Being new to feeding raw food for cats, I have noticed that some people say you should feed meats whole and some say that you should grind it up. Why is it most often fed as ground meat diets? Surely cats can eat whole meats because that's what they would get in the wild when they eat prey animals.

Cheddar loves his water fountain

He was not feeling well for a while when we went away for 5 days, had constipation followed by diarrhea. He seems to be back to normal- even jumped up to get in the bed ;)
I am so happy!
I also had to change my mood not to project anxiety. Just the opposite - I was telling Cheddar in optimistic tones that he was fine yesterday.

When our now 17 and 7 months old dog was younger, she could go on long walks (not that she doesn't pace for hours in her big playpen). During these walks, especially the morning one, she would relieve herself 3 times (stool). Nowadays, it takes her hours to empty her intestines. This is why I give her drinks in the morning for hours (she gets up at 6:30 am) and don't rush to feed her breakfast sometimes until 6 am.

I know some of my friends feed their dogs even before they go out in the morning. Some people feel they have to eat their breakfast even if they are not hungry. What about listening to your intelligent body then ???

In his book on folk medicine, Dr. Jarvis made a great comparison of an elevator making stops at one floor at a time. He wrote that our body can best do one thing at a time. That's another reason for staying focused on your task, no matter what it may be :)

It is a 24X7 job taking care of our dog Pepper who is 17 1/2 years old.

She still, luckily, doesn't like doing her business inside her playpen. However, we need to be there to take her out when she needs to.
And that's the tricky part because you never know when she does.

At night, more than anything, she likes to feel secure. She used to sleep with us under a blanket. However, that became unsafe since she could fall off the bed.

Last night, I wrapped her in a wool scarf and put my arms on her to make her feel loved. She dosed off :)

Summer heat may be quite dangerous for dogs. I usually take Pepper out in the shade for a very short time to take care of her business. I can wet her down to stay cooler.

A few days ago, my husband didn’t realize she was overheated. It took me 2 hours of holding her in my arms in an a/c room, wetting her with a wet towel and making sure she was ok.

Usually, she doesn’t drink water, only raw milk or flavored drink. Drinking too much raw milk, and other factors that day caused a weaker digestion at night. It’s all back to normal now.

What I fed her yesterday is in the comments.

I gave her a little at a time, to make sure she could process it without problems.

This morning, I have her some raw milk and some raw chicken for breakfast. She enjoyed it all and had a good walk.

Pepper is an amazing dog - always on a move. When she was younger, she liked to run.

Nowadays, I have to cradle her so she feels secure.
