Just a little update on Big Country Bassets for everyone!
I've debated on making this post for awhile now,
AND PLEASE NO NEGATIVITY!!! If there is, I will ban you from my page. If you don't like something I say, then unfollow my page. Not trying to be mean, but I will not tolerate it. I also will not answer any comment$$. Please feel free to send PM. Let's just all be nice and let me share the love of my basset hounds to families.❤️
FIRST, I just want everyone to know that I'm ❤️LOVING❤️ all the pictures and updates of your Big Country Bassets!!! THANK Y'ALL SOOO MUCH!! Just keep them comin!!!
Since I changed my profile and cover photos, I’ve had a lot of folks ask about certain parents not on there.. It's been a rough year here at Big Country Bassets. I've gone through loss that I didn't think would happen. And just know if I could change things I would. If you know me, then you know I do my best and love each and every one of my babies. And YES, they are all my babies no matter their age!
In November 2023, I had to say goodbye to Lannie. She was living it up in the retirement yard and age caught up with her. It was heartbreaking. Soo sad.😥
To start January 2024 off, I had to retire Jolene. Due to labor complications and c-section, I decided it was best not to let her breed anymore. She is now living it up in the retirement yard and getting plenty of treats! If you saw her, you would say tooo many treats.. 😂
In April this year, I lost my Bocephus. It was out of my control and the vet. We did all we could do. Since then, I had the opportunity to let Ted (who is Bocephus and Jolene’s son) come back to live here at Big Country Bassets. I hope he will carry on the legacy traits of Bocephus and Jolene.
In May, I added Elvis to Big Country Bassets. I hope that he will have beautiful babies!! We shall see in January. He has been on honeymoon with WillaDean and Pearl.😊
In September, I lost my own dad. Loosing your parents is a hard thing. But having all my basset babies to love on and they love me back has helped me so much.
On October 29th, Loretta goes into labor and has 4 beautiful babies and then stalls out. She had to have a c-section. She was very tired and worn out and had been in labor a long time. She had 2 babies that just couldn't make their way out without the help of the vet. I got her home with the rest of her babies and was watching her closely. During the night she passed away, it was just too much on her. I have been devastated over loosing her.😭 I have spent the past 3 weeks taking care of and bottle feeding her babies. Countless hours of no sleep, worrying, and doing everything I knew to do for her babies. MaddieClaire who didn't have any babies has stepped up and has taken the babies as her own and took worry from me. If you have ever experienced taking care of or bottle feeding puppies, then you know it's a tiring job. So far the babies are doing so much better with MaddieClaire taking them as her own. They are miracle babies! (and adoption will be more$)
EttaMae (Buckshot ) litter is due SOON!.
There’s a possibility of Ruby(Ted) due late December.
WillaDean(Elvis), Pearl(Elvis) due January 2025.
As most of you know, I don't do a waiting list. I prefer that you keep in touch if you are wanting to add a Big Country Basset to your family. And I appreciate everyone that is already keeping in touch!! Please feel free to message me!(again, I will not answer in comments)
Thanks to everyone and keep those updates coming!!!
Anita
(Also, if I'm slow to respond come February 2025, just know I'll be spoiling my new grandbaby, Josie Faye that's due Feb 3rd, 2025😂)
