These two mares ❤️.

We are a private boarding facility with NO TRESPASSING signs posted everywhere, yet today we had an incident with a Woman petting horses and taking photos with her kids. I explained to her nicely that we are a private facility and asked her to leave. She started arguing with me asking who I was etc. I finally had to explain to her that it’s like going to her children’s school and talking to them. She argued that she knew someone in the barn whose horses she was petting yet could not name the person. Also that her kids attended summer camp there before. I don’t think people realize that these are our babies and going from horse to horse and barn to barn can spread disease. So frustrating , disrespectful and self righteous.

Horses are not to be left unattended while in the arena at RRR. This is due to safety reasons. I’m not sure how many followers have had horses get injured at boarding facilities, but we always like to error on the side of caution. ⚠️

Here are some tips to help keep your horse calm during fireworks:

Distract your horse

Provide lots of hay or forage to keep them occupied. You can also try treat balls or puzzle toys with horse-friendly treats.

Mask the noise

You can try using ear plugs or ear poufs made for horses.

Keep your horse inside

A small stall will limit their speed, so collisions will be less traumatic. You can also try keeping stable lights on to reduce the flashing lights.

Stay with your horse

Your presence can have a calming effect. However, don’t get in the way if your horse becomes startled.

Check on your horse

Regularly check on your horse during the evening to make sure they are okay.
