They broke her back, but they couldn’t break her spirit!
Keila is only two, though she looks older. She was dumped at the border. The amazing thing is that after her abandonment and abuse in the field, Keila still trusts people! And this is after someone smashed her on the back with a club or a bat and fractured her spine . . . so she cannot feel her tail, and she is incontinent.Hitting a dog is like hitting a child. It is reprehensible. She’s had a hard life but now we will spoil her!

Watch dog abandoned in the desert give his rescuer his first kiss.
This video is LOADED with history! How it started in a pizza joint in 1983 and became the largest sanctuary of its kind in the world. How (the original) Angel got the angel she needed. How 150 dogs in the woods came in from the rain. How the medical staff was mostly women from South Africa. How wet might have the only official animal hospice program in the world. And all of this while Howie and Pearl smile from ear to ear in their new home with a pool and neighbors, right in the middle of the action!

Xochi & Pete were rescued from being dumped by illegals in the arid desert. A border patrol agent named her Xochi which means “Princess of Flowers.” She is aptly named because she is so loving despite the hardships she’s faced. And her brother Pete is her lifetime sidekick. Linwood is happy, healthy, and holding steady at 69 lbs. Stay tuned for more updates on his journey!

Watch this amazing rescued 15-year-old dog acting like a youngster!
Sophie is a lesson for us all! Leo rescued her from the deep desert 14-years ago and she loves it here so much that she refuses to get old!
Leo writes a letter to his DELTA Rescue supporters every month and he includes pictures of a special dog or cat or horse. In this video he is taking pictures of Sophie but she won’t stay still because she is so happy to see him! These angels remember who saved their lives even all those years ago.

Zebra is a Dalmatian rescued from San Felipe in 2010 at just 1 year old. 13 years later we noticed she started to lose weight and she was diagnosed with metabolic disease of the pancreas and placed on chemo. She had surgery to remove the growth on her right flank which turned out to be squamous cell carcinoma. Stay tuned on Zebra as she has her next recheck next week.
