Happy New Year!
2024 flew by! Our squad grew with new heroes; 2 and 4 legged! We welcomed new fosters that helped them heal internal/external scars, nursed them, taught them to live indoors, loved them, taught them trust and introduce them to the beautiful side of humanity. All voluntarily; we are all volunteers.
Adoptions were slow this year. Other rescue groups shared the same experience. However, we are proud of the adoption matches we made. We never settled; always chose the best match. We still have several pups that will require long-term care and rehab, including our vintage heroes who are in fospice care. No matter how long it takes, they will have our squad to love and protect them.⠀
We kept our bonded heroes together and remain committed to matching them with families that will treasure them together. We saved several medical dogs that required thousands of $ of medical care. We saved several behavioral heroes that will need long-term rehab from the trauma and abuse they experienced in their past. We also saved several senior pups that were discarded by their families at the shelter.⠀
We receive requests to help daily. Our President Michele, networks dogs in need behind the scenes. If we aren’t able to take the pup into our care, she will not turn away until she helps the pup find placement in a trusted & reputable organization. These can total in the dozens weekly! We are grateful for the other Rescue Groups we work closely with, because there is strength in numbers.⠀
We want to thank our squad families that adopted our fur-heroes and chose to rescue! We are blessed to call you family. We want to thank and honor or foster families who lovingly and selflessly open their homes and hearts to help save heroes. You are amazing heroes who love them and serve as their advocates and nurturers. Without you we can’t save them. You are the heartbeat of this rescue effort.
We are infinitely thankful to our friends, partners and supporters who have contributed to our

⭐️New Hero⭐️
Please help us welcome little Pablo to our squad. He is only 2.5. lbs and very underweight. He is about 5 years old.
Poor little guy was living outside and very neglected. His teeth are extremely bad and will definitely need a dental. He will need the works; all vetting! He’s not neutered and needs to get vaccinated, chipped, and a full exam.
We want to thank his rescuer for being his advocate, and his voice. Because of their intervention, the family relinquished him to give him an opportunity for proper care and a better life.
Little Pablo is very sweet and mellow. His foster family is ready to shower him with love and lots of affection, he’s in great hands!
Adoption Interest applications are on our website www.jointhescars.org under “forms.” Welcome to our squad little Pablo, we’re happy to have you!

Meet our precious little hero Butterscotch. She is a Riverside Shelter survivor who was in danger for euthanasia due to having a seizure disorder.
Butterscotch is a Papillion Mix, weighs about 11 lbs, and turned 7 months old this month.
She’s a sweet girl with a beautiful smile and a beautiful spirit. She’s resilient and strong. We had her visit our vet for a thorough exam and testing. Good news is, they say there is a great possibility that she will grow out of her seizures (no guarantees). For the meantime, she has started treatment and they have been effective.
She loves toys, she a social butterfly, she’s dog and cat friendly, she loves her walks, and enjoys time at the beach. She’s a happy girl with a beautiful spirit. She will bring her new family lots of love and joy.
We are excited to help her find her new forever family. Adoption Interest applications are on our website www.jointhescars.org under “forms.”
