March 13 is National K-9 Veterans Day, and the FASNY Firemen’s Museum in Hudson, NY, is hosting a beautiful memorial display honoring the K-9s of the Hudson City Police Department, who were trained on the Museum’s grounds.

AOC’s May 10-11 scent work trial will take place at the Museum, which is a fantastic site for a trial! The premium is available on both AOC’s and AKC’s websites. Entries opened March 4 and will close April 28.

National K-9 Veterans Day, March 13, is a day to honor and commemorate the service and sacrifices of American military and working dogs throughout history.

This beautiful memorial honoring the K-9s of the Hudson City Police Department is temporarily on display in the Museum's rose garden, situated at the building's entrance. The location is very fitting, as all of these brave K-9s were trained on the Museum and The FASNY Firefighter's Home grounds.

AOC Obedience Trial Practice April 5, 8AM-2PM

Come join us to practice your routine under the same conditions as our May 17-18 trial, or come just to test out our new floor. Everyone is welcome: trialling, not trialling, maybe trialling. We’ll have a single ring and run classes from Beginner Novice through Utility in sequence. Registration is online only, pay at the door. $7 first run, $5 each additional class/run, same dog.

Open to any dog ≥4 months who has completed an in-person agility foundations class.

$5/dog for members and conditional members; $12/dog for non-members

The very last day of registration for everyone will be Saturday, February 1, or when the limit of 25 dogs is reached.

DURING REGISTRATION, CHOOSE A SESSION:

SESSION 1: Lowered dog walk, plank between Cato boards and a contact trainer. Novice course of jumps and tunnels.

SESSION 2: Full height dog walk integrated into novice course of jumps and tunnels. Bring your contact training aids or use ours.

After registration closes, you will be sent a quick survey to provide more details about your dog walk training goals. The start and end times of each session will then be announced.

I’m pleased to announce that the proposal to purchase Crown Matting Comfort King mats for our training room passed at tonight’s special meeting. Many thanks to everyone who attended, and many thanks to Cathy Reardon, Josh Schoborg and Emily Mercurio for all their work researching these mats, making phone calls and meeting with contractors.

Because the question was raised about how the Comfort King mats held up to various cleaning products used by the scent work participants, I decided to conduct a test while I am at the club training this afternoon. The three products are the two cleaners that are on the shelves in the training room plus white vinegar. Results will be available at the meeting this evening.

Our last novice rally class was a little different. It was Rally Aloha. Rally with a Hawaiian theme. We had some chsllenging signs - like walk on the beach or dance party- do the hula around your dog. Fun and laughter with our dog.
