We went to visit Remi today to check out his progress after being sent out to get broke and have 90 days undersaddle put on him. He is doing awesome!!!

Rembrandt aka Remi is a 17.1+h (prob will top out 17.3+h) 2021 Percheron Paint x Gelding. We purchased him as an adorable weanling from our west and have been lovingly bringing him along ever since. Remi is a big, sweet guy… extremely quiet and kind. He is a big mover for a guy of his size. He is sound, barefoot, and totally vice free. He leads, loads, ties, is good for baths and the farrier, etc. He is easy to catch out in the field… actually, it’s harder to keep him away from you in the field since he is an overgrown dog who has to come see what you’re up to! He loves people and attention. He is well used to cattle, dogs, camels, donkeys, tractors etc. During his 90 days at the trainers (he is still there), he got a good foundation of groundwork and was started undersaddle. He is now walk, trotting, and cantering under tack, with a good start to understanding of collection, moving off leg, etc. He can side pass, turn on his haunches, and is learning to how to use each individual body part effectively. He has a soft mouth and is responsive to your aids, with or without spurs. You can easily side pass over to open a gate off his back, and as well as closing it behind you. He has been ridden out cross country extensively over the past 90 days. He’s been down paved and gravel roads, through woods, creeks of all different sizes and depths, open fields, etc. He happily will lead, follow, or ride anywhere in between. He is also okay with riding out alone and even keeps his cool if his buddy’s leave him mid-trail ride and leave him by himself. He has three very comfortable gaits, whether riding in the ring or out and about on the trails. The sky is the limit for this young man. He has a fabulous foundation on him and could truly be someone’s once in a lifetime horse. Ride him, drive him, teach him liberty work… the options are endless. He has a great brain, very willing and smart. He is quiet enough you could probably throw your hubby on him, but truly, it would be a shame to waste such a cool dude with so much potential on being a pokey hubby horse. The trainer absolutely loves him and said he is having so much fun working with him…. And that he is really starting to get fun now that some “buttons” have been installed! We don’t “have to” let this guy go… and we will only let him go to the perfect situation! He is a total gem— and absolutely stunning to boot! Montego Bay Blues aka Monte is a Premium Westfalen filly who scored an impressive 8.4 at inspection. She is by Monterey (Morricone) and out of a Southern Pride (Grand Prix 1.6m jumper stallion) mare. This filly is well put together with lovely, balanced conformation. She has a beautiful, feminine face with a fabulous neck and shoulder…. She is simply gorgeous!! And then there is her movement! WOW! This girl can move!! At her inspection, upon starting to trot, you could hear the German inspector “Ohhhhhh…WOW, WOW, WOW…spectacular”. 😍 Her canter is uphill with impressive reach and use of her hind leg. She’s simply lovely. Monte has the makings to be an upper level dressage contender….. BUT she also has some impressive jumper blood in her. The possibilities are unlimited. Monte showed at Dressage At Devon and took 5th in the fillies class, qualifying for the championship class, which she took 4th in, out of 14 top not c**ts and fillies.

What an amazing experience at Dressage at Devon 2024!! We took our spectacular Premium Westfalen filly “Montego Bay Blues” (aka Monte) by Monterey (Morricone) and her mama Eve (Southern Pride x Ivannah). It was a great learning experience for our fancy girl. She showed in the 2024 Weanling Fillies class on Wednesday and took a respectable 5th out of 10, despite showing only a few trot steps between baby antics. 🤪 Her score qualified her for the East Coast Foal Championship class on Thursday…. Where she brought her sass and showed off her fancy trot. She took 4th out of 14 truly exceptional c**ts and fillies. We are so proud of Monte!! She is exactly what we strive to produce through our small, but superb breeding program.
