We are a week late in introducing our final baby for 2024!!! Vena delivered a stunning Checkmate C**t on June 2nd around 7pm…. Almost a full month later than her “due date”. This fancy baby is a full sibling to Vena’s 2021 and 2019 offspring. We couldn’t be more smitten by this precious little man! We expect him to be a freakishly good mover like his big siblings were… and an equally impressive jumper! He is getting cuter and cuter by the day as he continues to “unfold”. Squeeeee!! So excited about this exceptional baby!!

We are still working on a name… stay tuned!! This c**t will be available to a top notch show home. 🦄

Talk about bittersweet!!! Our spectacular two year old homebred Check Please aka Paisley found her person!!! We are SOO over the moon excited for Sarabeth Benusa and Paisley! They are going to accomplish great things together without a doubt!! Paisley was born and raised here and has been such a bright light and shining star in our program… and such a warm, friendly face day in and day out. It’s going to be so strange when she leaves here! She is going to love having one on one attention every day and being somebody’s one and only. Paisley has the ability to take her person to the stars… we are so excited for Sarabeth and Paisley on their lifetime of adventures together!! Sarabeth was looking for a “best friend” kind of horse and you won’t find one who fits that mold better than our sweet girl, Paisley!! We are so proud, beautiful girl! Woot woot!!! Welcome to the world, beautiful baby girl!!! Southern Eve (Southern Pride/Ivannah) delivered a STUNNING filly by High Point Hanoverians’ Monterey at 4:47am!! 🎊 We have named this elegant princess “Montego Bay Blues” aka “Monte”. She is absolutely perfect and already so friendly and sweet. To say we are smitten would be an understatement!! Eve is being the most fantastic mama ever (as always) and making us so proud. Pictures do this stunning black beauty absolutely no justice. She is breathtaking, with such an attention demanding presence about her. Chrome is most definitely not needed for this girl to turn heads and be noticed. Southern Ritz aka Ritz is incredibly friendly and personable. She eats up attention and follows you around begging for more… which makes getting good pictures of her quite challenging!!

So excited!! Stella (Southern Pride) delivered a stunning c**t by Amazing KWPN Stallion by Balou du Rouet at 3:40am! He is absolutely beautiful and his mama loves him so much!! Gotta give Stella major props…. This is her first baby and she has proven to be a total natural at being a mama!! Couldn’t ask for her to be any more perfect at the job! The little man has figured out his legs, found the milk bar, and is doing great. Always a HUGE sigh of relief going down the check list of having a healthy mare and foal… starting eleven months ago when working to get mama bred…. The somewhat tedious process of foal watching…. And then of course the delivery (which is always nerve racking until you know they’re positioned properly and progressing appropriately)…. And then the timeline of things to check off upon foal arriving…. Standing up, finding and latching mamas b**b, passing meconium, mama passing placenta, ability to lie down and get back up, nursing unassisted …. PHEW!! Counting my blessings on a smooth maiden delivery and a healthy mama and baby. Bonus— he is SUPER duper cute!!! 🥰

🖤⭐️🩷 Our first 2024 Baby Has Arrived 🩷⭐️🖤

Bunny (Southern Pride) delivered a beautiful, huge coal black filly at 1:40am. Baby looks just like her fancy daddy, Ribaldi. Not a stitch of white on this stunner and I have a feeling she isn’t going to need it to get noticed!! Super impressed with this sassy little lady so far…. She popped out and stood by herself (completely unassisted) within a half hour, master her balance and commandeered her wobbly legs, passed meconium, and figured out nursing within the normal time line. Bunny is doing great and is such a good and attentive mama. Welcome to this crazy world, beauty queen…. Now we just need a fancy name for you…… Better pictures coming soon. She is so black that it made getting pictures quite challenging at night!

🍀Junebug- 2016 TB mare with TONS of chrome. Can be double registered as Paint. Available for breeding lease, possible sale. Currently open. Sound, no vices. Was not restarted after the track.

🍀Motto- 2015 TB gelding, 18h. Great undersaddle though still pretty green off the track, more on the sensitive side so does need a quiet kind of rider. He is my personal horse but not getting ridden enough. Open to possible lease opportunities … onsite or off site. Will be picky about rider’s ability so he continues to be brought along correctly. 🍀 Athena- 15-16yr old 16h Draft X mare for lease… truly saintly. Can sit out in the field for months and will go right out on a quiet trail ride without fuss. Barefoot, no vices. Also drives. Not the biggest fan of ring work. Will hack out alone or in company, not afraid of water.

Rembrandt aka Remi is a coming 3yr old Percheron Paint x gelding who is quite simply spectacular. He is already 17+h and has lots of growing to do. He likely will top out around 18h, so you better like the gentle giants! Remi is sound, vice free, and a pleasure to be around. Truth be told, you can’t get away from him and he would crawl into your pocket if he could manage. Remi lives out currently but is good in a stall when brought in. He is easy to catch, leads well, loads easily on and off a trailer, ties like a champ, is good for the farrier (some baby moments, of course), and just loves any and all attention.

Remi was purchased as a weanling as a “keeper” but we are struggling with lack of space at the moment and listing a few because of this. This guy is so special and will undoubtedly go on to do amazing things…. Be it driving, foxhunting, dressage, hill topping, eventing, vaulting…. He really could do anything. He is a lovely mover for such a big dude and has a great canter. He is ready to start learning about having a job…. Truly the perfect age to start working with him. He’s been well handled and knows nothing but kindness and love.

We are offering one of our lovely mares for a breeding lease for 2024-2025. Junebug is a 2016 16.1h OTTB mare who is just about as fancy as they come. She is eligible to be double registered as a Paint with all her chrome. Not only is she stunning to look at, she is also a FANTASTIC, daisy cutter mover!! Junebug is sound, vice free, and overall an easy keeper. Serious inquiries only… and we will check references including veterinary to make sure it would be a knowledgeable breeding program with her best interests in mind. She has has one foal so far and is currently open.

Junebug has not been to any WB inspections as of yet, but she won’t have any issues being approved for mare books.

We couldn’t be more proud of our spectacular homebred filly. Paisley is EXACTLY what we hope and dream of producing and developing in our small, but prodigious breeding program. We have had great success with what Checkmate has produced and have consistently observed offspring who not only move incredibly well, but also jump 10+!!

Paisley is the sweetest, most loving horse you’ll ever meet. She doesn’t have an ounce mareishness in her and neither does her mama. She adores people and truly just wants to be your best friend. Paisley has been well handled from the start and has a good solid foundation on her. She leads like a champ, safely ties for as long as you need her to, picks up her feet, and is brave in any and all situations. She has been raised around a whole circus of weirdo creatures… from cows to camels… to a pack of 13 dogs… to dogs in wheelchairs… to peacocks and pigs…. The list literally goes on and on. She takes everything in stride and is not phased by much of anything. Not only is she extremely well put together and correct…. But she also has the amazingly amateur friendly brain that we all seek in our four legged friends. Paisley should top out around 16.2+h. This filly is going to be so easy and straightforward to bring along. She is most certainly pro quality, but she will undoubtedly make up to be an Ammy friendly mount down the road. The sky is the limit for this fancy girl. She could truly go in any direction… though we think she would absolutely clean up in the hunter ring with her lovely trot and metronome, rhythmic canter. She has already shown us that she loves jumping too! She will happily March up to fences in our ring and pop over them on her own accord…. Regardless of what scary filler is under or around it!! Wish we caught it on video!! Paisley is 100% sound and vice free. She has lived in a stall with daily turn out but currently is being a horse and is living out 24/7 with our band of broodmares and foals. She gets along well with others and is very sweet to the younger foals. She is really and truly a gem in every way possible!!

Paisley is very special to us and we will be picky as to where she ends up! We want to see this beautiful girl shoot for the stars and be developed into the superstar we know she is! She would do very well in the hunter breeding and young hunter classes too!!
