LOOK WHO GOT CAUGHT!! 🎉

This most likely pregnant mama has been out for quite some time and finally got trapped! We are hoping to get her vetted and safe with a rescue and getting fixed up when she’s healthy and ready!

Calm, friendly but scared, sweet
Currently won’t eat at the shelter (throws food and water away)
Not leash trained
No cats
Goats and sheep are fine

We were informed yesterday that the SPCA of Ellis county will be closing on April 15th, 2025. This will be very detrimental on the community and the animals within the county! We will most likely see an increase of dumped animals esp in the county and country settings.

We need to work together to get this overpopulation under control! Please, reach out so we can provide resources for low cost spay and neuter, vaccines, etc. Please consider fostering, adopting or helping all the local shelters along with local organizations especially with this unknown coming up!

MEET COMET!

Spencer has been running loose since his owner abandoned him on the streets. It’s been difficult but he’s safely been trapped and ready to decompress in a home. He’s about 1 year old, NOT fixed yet, but has core vaccines. He’s scared but very loving! We are looking for a foster, rescue or adopter!

Parker here!!!
I’m having the best time at my fosters house but am ready for my forever family! I’m 1 year old and fully vetted and such a good boy! Here’s what my foster family has to say about me:

What we have learned about Parker:
He prefers being indoors. He would do well in an apartment or a house. He'd actually make a great companion for an over the road truck driver. He wants to be with people in a house. He will not do the crate. We have allowed him to sleep with my oldest daughter. Even when we are gone, he stays in her room and will sleep on her bed. We have a camera in there to watch/talk to him while gone. He has gained 4 pounds since being with us. He had a vet checkup. He likes to be picked up/carried. He can jump really high so a 6' fence is recommended. He does not do well with our cats (but did live with one previously) or livestock. He is still a pup and has that prey drive. He loves people and is very affectionate. Pretty much potty trained but he needs to be watched. He rides EXCELLENT in cars! We have not had him around small children as our youngest is 15.

Some more things about Clifford I have learned... He loves to cuddle and loves attention, especially belly rubs. He loves toys especially ones he can continuously chew on. He is a bit nervous and timid at times and has some anxiety from time to time. He loves treats and is learning how to take them gently. We are working on some training with him. He knows basics like sit and lay down and will listen to you when you call him or tell him to stop doing something but we are working on his begging and manners when it comes to food. He is a very curious dog who likes to check everything out. He likes to pick up random things such as tape, flashlights, and any other objects he sees laying around. He doesn't chew them up, he just likes to carry them around so we try to keep things picked up and make sure he has toys to keep him occupied. He is great with my hyperactive 7 year old and he is great with our other dog even when my dog gets aggressive. Clifford is very docile and submissive and not at all an aggressive dog and in fact is a bit of a big ol baby but you can tell he has protective instincts. He is house broken and he doesn't chew on furniture but he does have an obsession with paper lol he likes to chew up paper if a piece of paper or envelope ends up on the floor. He hasn't tried to dig in our yard or dig at our fence but he is sneaky when we open the front door however even when he has gotten out, he has never tried to take off he just likes to explore the front yard and driveway but always comes back when called. I think he gets nervous when he knows we are leaving. A bit of separation anxiety. He is honestly just a 75lb baby who wants all the love, attention, and reassurance. I get the feeling that maybe in a former home someone wasn't always nice to him which has led to his nervousness and anxiety. He just needs a home with love and patience. He deserves a forever home with a forever family who will continuously love him. He doesn't get the attention he deserves here because of our other dog and you can tell that my dogs aggression and jealousy is starting to affect him. He just wants to find his person that he can attach himself to and be loving and loyal to and who can give him full attention and cuddles. He likes to sneak into the bed but is also happy sleeping on the floor next to the bed on a blanket. He likes car rides but is not a fan of baths. Sorry I know this was really long, I just want to give you all the information I can and have so many good things to say about him. My heart breaks for him that we can't give him the home he deserves and that nobody is wanting this good boy. He would be the bestest and most loyal companion if someone will just give him a chance.

With freezing weather approaching the DFW area, it’s important to remember that setting animal traps in these conditions is inhumane and could be considered animal cruelty. Trapped animals are at extreme risk of hypothermia, frostbite, or death when temperatures drop.
