our hallmark. Tracy and Curtis, as dedicated growers, and producers, pour their expertise into crafting international award-winning High Phenolic olive oil (EVOO) with less than 0.2% acidity. From every step, whether it's pruning the olive groves or ensuring the freshness of the oil, our meticulous approach shines through. A Hands-On Approach to Excellence:
Our hands-on philosophy permeates every facet, from nurturing the olive groves to the bottling line operation. This approach is why Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm has risen to the ranks of the world's finest olive oils. A Journey Through Time:
Our farm's roots run deep, stretching back 165 years. Nestled along the picturesque Woodpecker Trail route, our 300-acre farm boasts a legacy spanning six generations in Long Leaf Pine forestation. A Legacy of Innovation:
In 2015, proprietors Tracy (sixth generation) and Curtis Poling introduced a new chapter by establishing our 9,000-olive tree orchard. Our exclusive Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm EVOO is born from Arbequina olives nurtured in our Georgia groves. We ensure the olives are cold pressed immediately after harvest, capturing the essence of freshness in every bottle. Join the Journey:
Indulge in the distinct taste and character of our EVOO, a testament to our devotion and the bounties of nature. We invite you to savor each drop and embrace the remarkable story of Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm. Warmly,
Curtis & Tracy (Smith) Poling

I took a moment to read some comments in our guest book and wanted to share a few. These compliments make all the effort worthwhile. I especially love this one: "Tour guide was a hoot!! This guy knows everything about olive trees! - We will be back - 😉." I've also posted some more pictures from the book of comments. Enjoy!

Extra virgin olive oil is one of the healthiest oils we can keep in our pantry. But did you know that some EVOOs are better than others?

Here’s our list of what to look for to ensure you’re picking up a bottle of the highest quality:

🌟 Check the best before date
And not just the best before date but check if you can see a ‘harvest date’ too. The fresher the EVOO, the higher the phenols that make EVOO so healthy.

🌟 Buy EVOO in a dark bottle
The dark-coloured bottle helps the EVOO stay fresher for longer. If you keep your olive oil in a clear bottle, near heat and light, then the oil will degrade quickly.

🌟 Choose a certified extra virgin olive oil
EVOO is one of the most adulterated food products and vulnerable to food fraud. To be sure you’re buying the best extra virgin olive oil, check for a certification mark.

🌟 Check the nutrition panel
Some EVOO will state the total phenol content on the nutrition information panel. It’s these phenols that are thought to be responsible for many of the health benefits of EVOO. If the phenol content is stated on the nutrition label, you can be confident that you’re buying a good quality EVOO.

Daily incredible health benefits of Quality (know your supplier) EVOO. "In a recent Spanish study of over 12,000 people, researchers found that those who had a tablespoon and a half of olive oil a day were half as likely to die from cardiovascular disease, which is impressive. He explained: “Olive oil is also rich in something called Oleic acid, which, along with the polyphenols, could explain why a good use of olive oil a day can lower inflammation, improve our memory and reduce blood pressure.” it does have an anti-inflammatory effect, it's most likely that it's going to prevent issues in the endothelial function on the art interior walls that will stop build-up of plaques from forming on the arterial walls, which these are all basically made up of collagen. In summary while many of us fear fat research shows one spoonful a day quality evoo reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, inflammation, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.

Nutritional scientist said although 'many of us were taught to fear fat' adding this to diet also helps with heart heath and can prevent cancer

We were honored to welcome Georgia River Network to Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm! As the only nonprofit dedicated solely to protecting Georgia's waterways, they are incredibly active, kayaking on rivers like the Ohoopee and the Altamaha. We enjoyed sharing our local history and the process of growing and producing olives here in Glennville. What an energetic and inspirational group! You're welcome back anytime.

Meet Lefty, our farm's well-known Gopher Tortoise, an endangered and protected species. I encountered Lefty 10 years ago while cleaning up some rows in the pines. I noticed Lefty was missing its left front foot, which is typically used like a shovel for digging burrows. Despite this, Lefty has adapted remarkably well. Over the years, we have enjoyed feeding Lefty watermelon rinds and cabbage. Carry on, Lefty!

Even more good news: New studies say "All" ages ""dramatically""!! benefit from using daily EVOO (olive oil) use.

Including olive oil in your diet appears to be great advice for people of all ages. More and more scientific studies point to olive oil as risk-reducer for health problems ranging from cancer and cardiovascular disease to diabetes. Recently, another large, long-term study suggested an additional benefit of consuming olive oil, for older adults in particular. Regular consumption may lower your risk of death related to dementia.

Researchers used information from more than 92,000 healthcare professionals in the U.S. who participated in the Nurses’ Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study, which tracked their health outcomes for 28 years.

We had a nice review from a CC processor and love to share the comments on a recent tour of Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm and their lunch with our good friends at Watermelon Creek Vineyard. Thank you Susan. Quote! "We had a great day touring the olive grove! It was beautiful and I loved the chance of see your little turtle. I was surprised at how large the grove is and how much study and work have been involved.
I bought olive oil for my children and sister and balsamic vinegar for me. June had already given me a bottle of olive oil do now I have the oil and vinegar.
Lunch was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere of the restaurant outstanding.
Such a great day! I love June and now I know that you two are really special people too.
Susan"

Few people are aware that the history of olive trees and olive oil in Georgia dates back to 1595, over 400 years ago, with the arrival of Spanish settlers and later English colonists. Pay attention to the growing regions in the southern part of Georgia, which are well-suited to support this industry. This fascinating history was documented by Dr. Gerard Krewer of UGA Extension in 2010, with additional notes added by us. It's no wonder that here in Georgia, particularly at the Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm, we are able to produce award-winning olive oil. Come visit and learn more on our tours! Enjoy!
