I walk up and down these stairs several times a day. The dogs follow me up and down them without fail. But the second I decide to leave, before I even put my shoes on or grab my keys, when I've barely consciously made the decision to go, they are immediately stationed at the door for the mere chance at getting to go out too. Many times they do NOT get to go. But their desire is so strong that when the signal comes, they are there, ready. Behaviors are created and maintained through motivation and classical conditioning. Harnessing and manipulating that can seem so difficult, yet, here they are, waiting at the door excited and ready, with no intent on my part at all.

Just wow at this little puppy (not so little anymore!). I love everything about her. From her food drive (she WILL launch herself onto the table for a plate of food), her growing work ethic, and her goofy personality (definitely copied straight from Ember) training her is so much fun. I do have to be mindful during our luring sessions for fear she might take a finger. Yet, when our almost 2-year-old grabbed a piece of food and shoved it at her, she took it as gentle as could be. The two of them are best friends, following each other everywhere and sharing little adventures. He adores her and her him. We are very excited to see what's in store for this girl.

We've opened up an incredible opportunity for the right person to welcome an exceptional dog into their life.

Kylo is my favorite dog (yes I mean that). He’s incredibly smart, affectionate, and full of life. He LOVES training and is by far one of the most engaged and enthusiastic dogs I've had the pleasure of working with. However, he isn’t the right fit for our program (through absolutely no fault of his own) and it’s time for him to find a home where he can truly shine and take priority.

Kylo will be 3 in March and is house-trained, knows basic obedience, and has done well in various activities like hiking, roadtrips, and even dock diving. He loves spending time with people and has been wonderful with our young child. Whether you’re a family or a single person looking for a loyal and protective companion, Kylo could be the perfect fit. He's also a GREAT sport prospect for scent work, dock diving (he LOVES the water), or obedience.

Kylo has a few specific needs, so we’re looking for an experienced owner who understands him. While he gets along well with female dogs, he isn’t good around other males and can be reactive at times. He’s okay with cats but enjoys pestering them, so he shouldn’t be left unsupervised with them. He’s also familiar with farm animals but requires firm guidance to ensure he doesn’t get overly excited. He's a large male, at about 85-90lbs and STRONG.

Kylo is a very vocal and demanding male with a big personality. He’s naturally growly and enjoys playing a little rough—it’s all in good fun, but he needs someone who understands his temperament and won’t be intimidated by it.

Kylo will join his new home neutered. There is a fee, and enrollment in a training course will be required unless you demonstrate the experience and skills needed to meet his training needs. We strongly prefer to place him locally, allowing us to stay connected and support a smooth transition.

I don’t want to push her to train when she might not be feeling her best, so we’re taking it easy and having some good fun with the ball. I thought I'd see if she'd catch it in her mouth and she just stood there and watched it fall. Work smarter not harder!- Jinx.

Jinx's Halloween Suprise!

She was a great sport about it, it took maybe 20 minutes to paint her (can you tell I haven't taken anatomy in a very long time?) while she chewed a bone. I used non-toxic, water-based, dog safe paint. She was promptly bathed after. I am a little obsessed now.

Disclaimer- no dog fights here. Ember and Kylo are having fun. I used to try to stop it until I realized that Ember loves to be chased by Kylo (actually she loves to be faster than Kylo) and Kylo loves to chase her. It's a game they play and the teeth come out when she thinks he might actually catch up. It's ALL talk.

I'm not going to lie, sometimes balancing being a mom and a serious dog sport competitor, who's dogs need a LOT of foundation can be quite the juggling act. Sometimes it means ending a session early. Other times, it adds just the right amount of distraction to the session. It can be fun though. Arlo has started saying "yes" to the dogs whenever they do something he likes. At this rate he'll be handling his own dog by the time he's 4 😂

Owning GSDs isn't always easy. While we regularly utilize well secured kennels and crates for the dogs, free time is a big part of their lives too. Some dogs prefer to be as free as possible. 🤦‍♀️

This!! Dog socialization is all about creating neutrality in public places. Especially with a breed like GSDs who generally do not enjoy playing with strange dogs. It always starts the same with their puppy at first seeming to do well, but as they grow developing reactivity problems due to being forced into close interactions they do not enjoy or know how to get out of.

We are enjoying this warmer weather before it gets cold again. Denali is enjoying more than the rest of us though 😂

Learning competition level obedience with Radar has been such a pleasure. Ever soooooo slowly we are improving!

When you think you've recorded your training session only to realize you didn't hit record 🤦‍♀️. But I did catch Ember having a blast with her toy. She knows how to let loose and have some fun!
