Clara must have received so many orders for her sublime biscuits and muffins, she has the need to knead! 😉 Clara is the best friend that you never knew was missing from your life. She always gives the best hello’s, making you feel loved and special. Are you a bookworm or a cinephile? Clara just might be your perfect match! She loves lounging with visitors to our catroom as they sit back and enjoy some cat television or enthrall themselves with their own books. Clara is brushing up on her subjects for you, after all school is almost back in session.

Come visit the catroom of C.A.R.E. Leto wants to show you around! This petite flower exudes love and affection. It is hard to make a move without finding Leto either right next to you, or shadowing you. 😻 Her delicate little chirps can be heard asking for more pets or a kitty treat. Even though she doesn’t necessarily chase the feather toy in your hand, if you drop it on the ground she likes to give it a cursory pounce. 😉 Then she usually trots off, swishing that cute little stick tail beckoning for you to join. During her time in our cat room Leto has shown us a lot about who she is. She enjoys the companionship of other cats, is good with children, and is pretty comfortable with dogs. What to do when JacksonGalaxy Cat Pawsitive Pro Program training gets interrupted by a fly…
Why you must have fun with a similar prey play toy! Training can be a whole lot of fun, but sometimes the brain just gets distracted and you have to go with it. 😄 Valerie has learned a lot while being in the Cat Positive Pro Program, like “look” and “touch”. Coincidental training seems to be while her litterbox is being cleaned she should play with her tower of tracks…upside down. 😆 We would love to talk further with you about Valerie, and share all the fun anecdotes we have about our times with her, complete an adoption survey today!

Kittens!
😺 Kittens, kittens everywhere! 🙃
Do you love counting kitty toes, and dancing around with cat toys? Your friend/friends, (who doesn’t want two), is waiting for you here at the shelter! We currently have 5 little buddies that are eager to show off their own unique talents, and complete the fun of any household. ;) The litter featured in this video is called our “Jem litter” and consists of three sisters, two of which are polydactyls. Between the three different families we have 3 females and 2 males. All of our kittens are spayed/neutered, given initial vaccinations, FeLV/FIV testing, and microchipped. Get in touch with the shelter, we would love to talk to you further about adopting a little buddy!

This little lady just brings non stop smiles and laughter to your day! If she can’t (silent) chirp a chuckle out of you her biscuit skills are coming to finish the job. 😉 Our petite friend believes that her quiet confidence is the best way to approach life. Meeting new cats, dogs, people just start needing and walk on over. Nice and simple, right?😺 In the moments when she is left to her own devices Spring can be found following her roommate, Clara, around, napping in a squishy bed… or playing with herself and a feather toy (just keep watching 😂). She likes to bring her own interpretation of entertainment to every day.

Hickory!
No magic tricks here, Hickory is beyond precious! 😻
The goal of everyday life, for Hickory, is to share all the love that she has with everyone! Forget those silly play toys, bring on the pets and adoration. Her tap dancing button is instant; walking by her cubby produces a lot of silly chirps and her little paws moving to their own rhythm. 😺 Hang out with her a little longer and she starts rolling around asking for belly rubs! ❤️ Come to the shelter and experience the joy of having a little Hickory in your day!

It’s a kitten party time!!
We still have two kittens available for adoption, but never fear more are on the way! Our current group consists of two siblings, one male and one female. Since kitten season has arrived we will have a steady amount of kittens coming into the shelter throughout this month. They are all getting ready to become a part of your family! All kittens are spayed/neutered, as up to date as they can be on their vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, and FIV/FeLV tested. We would love to get you on our kittens list, and schedule a time for you to meet with our different litters. Leto!
One little precious package right here, waiting for her new family!
Leto was found with her litter of kittens in Cortez, Colorado before the entire family moved to our beautiful mountains. Now it's Leto's turn to focus on herself and all the wonderfulness of living a life of luxury. 😻 Her routine is one of peace, waiting for the shelter staff to attend to all of her wishes and desires. Leto is always gracious and rewards her people with an adorable little chirp of thanks and lots of purring! How can you resist perfection?! A survey is a great way to start the introduction!

We are celebrating the adoption of Theodore! Everyone at the shelter is shedding happy tears while we share this update from his new family. He is now living with another like minded, playful four legged friend, and a couple who adore him. They even rearranged their sleep schedule to help him settle in! 🥰 Theo even got a bath! Mostly it sounds like Theo is living his dream of getting so many snuggles and showing off his tennis ball. We are so excited that after spending almost 2 years with his C.A.R.E. family Theo finally found his home with a new family! How’s that for feeling good this gloomy Friday?!

Day three of harness adventure, check! 😺
When you are this gorgeous you have to strut your stuff! Tonchi is super excited to share his progress with all of his adoring fans. Being such a dapper fella isn’t enough for Tonchi, he feels like to be a well rounded gentleman you have to have personality… And this awesome guy has that in spades! Once adventure time is over, prey play or harness, settling in for a snooze is pretty high up on his list of goals for the day. 😉 Even if he doesn’t curl up on your lap for this goal accomplishment, Tonchi just likes to make sure that he is near you. 🙂 Give the shelter a ring and find out more about our talented friend!

Louis II

Definition of “party animal”...Louis II! 🤣
If he was asked where his favorite place to be is, the answer would be catroom. Why you might ask? Because he loves all of his imaginary adventures. 😆 From climbing the mountain machu picchu (cat tree); to trying to play high five with the dingos while on the catio (shelter dogs going for walks), Louis lives a very full life with so much joy. Most people think of a dog when looking for an adventure buddy, but we would implore you to think “Louis the cat”. Come and zip around the feather toy for this fella, who knows where his imagination will take him! 🥰

Tonchi
May the fifth be with you my friend…
Have you noticed our friend Tonchi on our website? This character will keep you in stitches with just how silly he is (like this video)! 🤣 Walking into his room can be a bit of a challenge, but only because he is so eager to start wrapping himself around your legs. 🥰 Once in the room Tonchi is so excited to show you all of his favorite lounge spaces, so it it sometimes takes a few minutes for him to wrap up his chat time. ;) Sitting down completes his day; he is so thrilled that he gets to climb around on your lap, Tonchi even offers free breath checks! ;) Once his attention goals are filled he bounces off to his chair or bench and curls up for nap time. Tonchi still wants to hang out, so don’t leave but now he just wants to chill together.

Louis the II

🎉 Come on everybody, let's do the Catnip dance! 🎊
Louis II has legendary dance moves, and he is always happy to teach. The biggest requirement is that you have to be willing to dive face first into the floor… and then wiggle around like there is no tomorrow. 😆 This sweetie is so excited to greet you, even if you don’t have catnip, and readily throws himself into your arms for a snuggle. Then he is off, investigating seeing what new places there are. During his time here at the shelter we have noticed that he seems to do well with other cats, and kids. All of our pets are half off for the month of April, don’t miss out one more week until May!

Like to have your cake and eat it too?
Eating breakfast in bed is always a delightful treat, but sometimes you just want to eat some sweets (chicken squeezer) and chill. Not only does Valerie enjoy getting yummy licky treats and having a camera crew; but she has been working hard on her people skills. 😉 Her new found confidence has even led her to investigate these strange things that people have, like shoes. :) After a great clicker session Valerie is always down for playing with her cat dancer toy, and noshing her way through some catnip.

Bird watching for two. 🤣
Nellie (the dog) was adopted from C.A.R.E. in 2020, and Silvia (the cat) was adopted this past March. 🥳 We think it’s fair to say that they are getting along pretty well! These two are exceptionally spoiled and loved by their family! Both Silvia and Nellie were originally found as strays before coming to the shelter to find their forever family. They are quite skilled at keeping everyone guessing about what their next move will be; like finding creative ways to play with a cat tent (zooming underneath it, rather than into). 😂
Happily Ever After’s that happen more than once are pretty great!

Meet Theo, our longest term resident!
Theo has been living at the shelter for the majority of his life. Over 800 days 💔
Theo has accomplished so much in the past 27 months. Once an undersocialized and frightened puppy, now a smart and loving 2.5 year old goofball patiently waiting for someone to take a chance on him. We're calling all potential adopters to check out Theo! He's ready to give all the love he's got to a very lucky family. Could you ask for more?
When you bring Theo home, you can feel confident in knowing the entire C.A.R.E. team is here to support Theo's transition into your home and assist with training to further strengthen your bond with Theo. How do you know it’s close to 4 o’clock? (turn on the volume 😀)
A regular alarm clock is pretty boring, most of them don’t even make happy pig noises. They also don’t do a happy piggy bucking dance, at least none that we know of. ;) Teddy is a man of schedule, and oh boy does he love it! Being a little fella he has a rather impressive ability to project his squeaking voice when he has a need. 🎊 For the most part his “needy times” are first thing in the morning, (breakfast time), and in the evening. As you might have guessed the evening is around 4, when he gets either some fruit or some veggies. :D You also may have guessed that he loves them!! Teddy’s adoption for the month of April is half off! Our happy little pig is ready to spend his forever happy squeaking around your house!

Little sunshine and this flower has blossomed! 😍
Valerie came to C.A.R.E. through our transfer program. The shelter wanted to help Valerie become the awesome cat that they knew she could be, but were unable to give her the individualized attention that she needed. Since coming to C.A.R.E. Valerie has come so far! She is learning how to make eye contact with people through clicker training (#catpositivepro), and how to play. She is a huge fan of cat grass and playing with the cat dancer toy, but truly her favorite thing to do is people watch. 😂 Speak with a staff member and find out more about Valerie!
