Bella came to C.A.R.E. back in September after being abandoned by her owner. No surprise she was shut down, shy, and not a happy cat.

But look at her now! Bella has blossomed into a brave, bold, and smiling cat who insists on daily play with our volunteers and loves chowing down on churu treats. She's also learning how to walk on her harness so she can safely do all the exploring she wants (she's a very curious cat!).

Bella is only 1.5-years-old, so she's looking for a fun family who enjoys her youngster energy and sassy ways. She has peacefully coexisted with cats who give her some space, and respectful dogs should be a-ok too (our team can talk you through a slow intro and safe space tips)!

Let's not make Bella wait any longer and let her shine in a new forever home this time!

Meet Billy the Cat!

Our 2-year-old shelter cat is a striking 10lb guy who can be described as friendly, fearless, and sometimes a couch potato ( ). He's on the hunt for a home who will provide plenty of toy time, a cat tree to perch high, and a window to watch the birds go by. He doesn't seem to appreciate other pets, just people please!

Shelter pigs, Pea and Nut, will fit right in during the holiday festivities!

They love to stuff their cheeks with treats and veggies, partake in sing-a-longs, and pose for photo ops. These 1-year-old sisters are bonded, with Pea being the brave one and Nut following her lead, and will need a new home together (we love having both little personalities!).

There's still time to adopt in celebration of November's Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

Hermione and Rebel are both more on the mature adult side at 7 and 8 years old, so they're a great combo of ready to head out for walks and exploring, then chill time is where it's at. Both ladies are also housebroken, love the comfort of their crates, and walk well on leash.

Hermione (a large fluffy and scruffy breed) would love a home with kids and other dogs, she adores both (cats, not so much)!

Rebel (petite cattle dog) is a big fan of hopping in the car, hitting the trails, and would be ok to head into a home with kiddos too! While other cool dogs are no big deal to Rebel, she would like a home of her own now.

Let's get our shelter dogs into homes before the holidays. Adopt or share their stories, because older pets are the BEST ❤

Our Mission

Colorado Animal Rescue (C.A.R.E.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal care organization located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We serve as the animal shelter for Garfield County and the city of Glenwood Springs. Our mission is practicing excellence in animal care, education, and advocacy to connect pets to their people. We work to place animals in loving homes, encourage population control, and promote responsible pet ownership.

C.A.R.E. strives to be the premier animal resource center in our community and greater Western Colorado. In addition to serving as a pet intake and adoption facility, we offer spay/neuter assistance, training classes, school visits, a pet food bank, and much more.

Our shelter operates off the basic premise that all animals deserve access to medical care, food, shelter, and love. We are guided by the principles of the Five Freedoms and believe every animal should have:
