Next month we begin the regular date and time as the first Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 AM. The place will change month to month, so mark your calendars that on Oct 5 we will be at the Glenwood Springs Mall from 9 to 11.
Come to the east entrance (by the old K-Mart) and we will be inside in front of that store. Please have dogs on leash and bring "bags" in case of nervous accidents. ...and cats in crates, please.

😍 C.A.R.E. Puppies!
Polly and Pedro are looking for families. These two Chihuahuas (best guess) arrived from a reservation in the Four Corners area and have been spending time in foster care (thank you foster families!), they’ll be ready to go home on Friday 8/16. New homes should be ready to spoil, socialize, train, and care for these pups so they grow up to be happy and healthy little dogs.
All puppies come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested, dewormed, microchipped and with pre and post adoption behavior support. Don’t wait, get your puppy adoption survey in, and get ready to rescue!

Our first nail trim pop up will be at Glenwood 's Mountain Dogs, on Blake next to Glenwood Music. We'll be there from 9 til 11 AM, Saturday Aug 31. Price is $10 per dog, cash only. Half goes to the providers and half to build up the fund we had at High Tails, called Dundee, to help with vet emergencies.

For 13 years, sweet Ariel was a spirit of cheer and friendliness at High Tails. Akitas are supposed to be aloof and reserved, but from her first appearance as a Roly Poly puppy it seemed to be her goal to disprove all those breed stereotypes. In her teens, slower and stiffer with arthritis, her joy in life and zest for making friends never diminished. Her smile never dimmed and as her mom Marilyn said, she never knew a stranger and she lived her whole life making people happy. It was a freak household accident on stairs that took her. Our hearts go out to Marilyn, Dick, and dog-sis Kia and cat-sis Muffy. All of us feel so lucky to have known her. She will be missed!

Our trusted mentor and friend, Laurie, helped her precious companion cross the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. Beautiful Boss was found dragging a heavy chain around his neck in the New Mexican desert, emaciated, searching for someone to help him. Thankfully that someone found him and he made his way to CO. Upon arrival to the Rifle Animal Shelter he was close to death from starvation, and Laurie stepped in to provide him a foster home to heal in. As he recovered Laurie noticed he had an eye problem. She took him to Dr. Flett who remembered a case she had known from before and sent us to the opthalmologist who diagnosed him with eye worms and got him started on treatment that would require a lifetime of care. And care Laurie wholeheartedly gave for the rest of his days. "Of course he was a foster failure," Laurie says! It's been the most beautiful love story ever since. Boss was the sweetest soul who thoroughly enjoyed a good snuggle, lamb lung, his top notch diet, being a gentle big brother to Skipper and welcomed Lily when she joined the family, and being doted upon by all who knew him. To know him was to love him. He was one of a kind, just like the wonderful woman who dedicated her life to his. Laurie is the best thing that ever happened for that boy. Laurie, our hearts are with you. Boss, thank you for your faithful companionship and loving spirit. Your imprint will last a lifetime. Give all our friends love when you get there. Until we meet again...🌈🐾

I'm a petite little lady with a heart full of love 🥰 and a serious talent for cuddling. I just adore hanging out with kids and other dogs my size – they make the best playmates! Cats? Not so much.
