Welcome Mary, Micheal, Linda, and Sandy to Mills County! These 4 sisters moved in to a beautiful ranch home in Glenwood earlier this year, and we finally had the opportunity to connect this week! Mary has been a Glenwood citizen for many years now, but her three sisters recently moved from across the river: Michael from Plattsmouth and Linda and Sandy are joining us from Bellevue. Mary works at the Glenwood Resource Center, Michael is an activity director at Woodbridge in Plattsmouth, Sandy is a Production Assistant at Walmart in Bellevue, and Linda is a Sr. Analyst for Payflex in Omaha. They have enjoyed their time in town so far, and are looking forward to using their Welcome Newcomers resources to explore Mills County even further. They all agree that family and grandbabies bring them the most joy, and they are getting tons of use out of the pool this summer, located right across the street in the Hickory Ridge community. Please help me welcome this wonderful group of sisters to town, and be sure to introduce yourself if you see them around!

Last week, Rotary District 5650 opened up a small amount of funds to eligible clubs in an effort to provide emergency grant money to local communities in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. Needless to say, the Glenwood Rotary Club jumped at the opportunity, voted via email and zoom meetings, wrote the grant, and received funding for a $1,500 match in less than a week! This morning, we were able to deliver a $3,000 check (social distancing style) to the Mills County Storehouse, who provided groceries for 235 families in March, 2020. This is a jump of 50 families from February, 2020, and they expect to see even more, this month. This $3,000 will provide meals for 30-40 Mills County families for 1 month.

Thank you to our district for opening up this opportunity, to our members for their speedy action to secure these funds - our district has many much larger clubs and we are proud to have secured funding prior to it running out - and most of all to the Mills County Storehouse and all of their volunteers for continuing to provide such an essential service to our county residents throughout back-to-back emergencies.

Welcome Newcomers Shay and Quentin!!

Shay and Quentin recently moved to Glenwood and are getting ready to welcome a second bundle of joy to their family! Their 2 year old, Gavin will be a big brother to new baby Denver any day! Shay is moving from Tabor where she lived for 6 years, and Quentin is originally from Oklahoma. Quentin is currently deployed in the Air Force, and Shay works in compliance for low income housing. They are huge dog people, enjoy comedy shows, concerts, and whatever hobbies a 2 year old has for that day. We are so glad you chose Mills County, and we welcome your growing family with open arms!

Congrats on your newest addition, and thank you for your service.
