It is a team effort here at Heart B between my husband and myself. We both have a long background of training, riding, and performing in the equine industry from rodeos to showing and even professional performances. We like to keep a family vibe with whatever we are doing, so come join the family!
9 year old sorrel gelding up for concentration. He was shown as a c**t then turned out. He was brought to Texas to be broke to ride and with some health issues of my own right now, he’s wasting away.
He is extremely gentle and I hate to let him go, but he needs a job.

As an exhibitor, trainer, and equestrian, accomplishments never get old. There is so much work that goes into every horse to prepare them for the arena, no matter if it’s a show pen or the rodeo arena. The time spent with these horses all comes down to one moment. Watching them succeed is well worth the sweat, blood and tears.

Being in the equine world since I was little I’ve sat back and watched people, although that sounds weird and kind creepy, it’s taught me people can be harsh and disrespectful.
No matter what your job title is in the equine industry, horse trainer, dentist, therapist, vet, or farrier, we all have the same goal and passion for these animals. That goal is to keep them in the best shape to perform at the best of their abilities.
🧐So I ask you, why in 2022 are we disrespecting others in the same field with the same goals?
For example: if I work on your horse and I’m not able to come to a conclusion of what the issue is, I will straight up be honest with you and tell you to, 1.) Have another therapist take a look for a second opinion, 2.) have a chiro take a look 3.) Take him/her to the vet for their evaluation.
Or… if you bring a horse to me and had someone else treat them before me, I am NOT going to run around bashing that person for not seeing the issue.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO CARE FOR THESE ANIMALS and sometimes you need a fresh set of eyes to help come to a conclusion. It’s not a bad thing and it doesn’t mean you don’t know what your doing.
So I’ll leave you with this. BE BETTER, DO BETTER, and TREAT OTHERS BETTER and remember once upon a time you didn’t know everything you know today.

This is so true! Horses have a way of making you feel dumb, they will test you, they will stress you out, but don’t give up on them or yourself!

Days are long and hot right now but it’s a team effort to keep the ball rolling!
Love seeing our kids bonding through horse, not just our kids but all of the younger generations.
It’s not just a hobby, it’s a way of life, and there is no better life style we would rather have our kids grow up in. They learn what hard work is, responsibilities, and what an honest word means.
To them it’s fun, it’s a privilege..but when they grow up they will learn it was time we got to teach them and cherish them as well as a lesson, a lesson they can pass on to their children and cherish!
The cowboy way of life is not dead it is very much alive… just have to look a little harder to find it these days….

Let’s me take a minute to introduce the faces behind Heart B Performance Horses.
We are Mark and Kota Bruton, a husband and wife team that work together from different sides of the equine community. Mark was raised around rodeo while I was raised in the horse show world, but yet somehow how two worlds collided and it works. Never in a million years did I think I would trade in my beautiful silver covered blue ribbon show saddle for a working rough out saddle and picking up broncs, but yet here we are. Getting to rodeo as a husband and wife team and work together is a dream come true. We both have different ways of riding, and when you mix those two together it just works.
When I say we are a team I don’t say that just because we are married. When it comes to training, just like our riding, we have different styles. I am all about ground manners and respect from our 4 legged kiddos. While Mark is too, to a point, but he wants a horse to go do its job every time you step in the saddle with no fuss. With both of us working together, your horse should be well mannered and willing to work, even on a Monday after a long weekend.
Although I am no longer showing horses I still bring that world to my rodeo life. Showing and training horses has taught me how to be patient. I started training c**ts when I was very young then I started working with kids. And I have to say, teaching young horses and teaching kids how to care for and ride horses is my jam... getting to watch the young ones build confidence and grow in their abilities is very much rewarding, not just for me but them as well.
