HAPPY LIFE, Bordeaux! 💚🐾

Bordeaux first came to us from Arizona, where she was dropped off at the shelter where her owner had requested she be put to sleep. After examining her, the shelter Veterinarian determined there was no medical reason for euthanasia. So they reached out to see if we could take in Bordeaux and thanks to a tag team effort of volunteers, Bordeaux arrived safe and sound from AZ to CO.

Once in our care, Bordeaux had a complete workup at our vet, which showed high kidney values, an upper respiratory infection, arthritis, and rotting teeth. After getting her kidney values under control and getting rid of that nasty cough, Bordeaux had 95% of her teeth removed and tolerated anesthesia like a champ!

Then, it was time to find her a forever home. 🐾

Bordeaux's new owners are senior dog experts, having adopted many senior dogs over the years. It's clear that everyone in her new home are HUGE dog lovers and they all adored her from the moment they met her. She has two new doggy siblings (one that seems to be enamored with the new lady in the house!) and will only know a life of luxury for the rest of her golden days.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of Bordeaux's story! It definitely was a team effort for this little gal and we couldn't be happier with where she's ended up. 💚🐾

Welcome to CSDRH Oreo! 💚🐾

Oreo was found as a stray in rough shape. She is underweight, has cherry eye, a mass the size of a softball on her abdomen, teeth falling out of her jaw and significant mammary enlargement (no milk production).

She was clearly used as a backyard breeder dog and was not taken care of. The animal control officers attempted to get in touch with the owners via a microchip but they were not responsive to any attempts to contact. We hope that one day they will be held accountable for what they did to Oreo.

During her shelter stay the Vet team there were able to do a spay and remove the softball size mass on her abdomen and take a couple of the teeth out that were rotting.

Oreo still needs her cherry eye removed and a few other things and will be heading to our vet this week.

Matilda landed herself a home for the holidays! 🎄♥️🐾🎁 🎉🥳

She is utterly adored in her new home where she has designated herself the crumb clean up crew ( ) and is helping her new doggy brother learn how to be a confident pup (he is a puppy mill survivor).

Quick recap: Matilda was found emaciated and unable to walk, tossed in a laundry basket outside right next to a dumpster. She landed at one of our shelter partners who reached out about helping Matilda recover and heal before finding her forever home.

Thanks to our amazing supporters who donated to her care, Matilda has made a FULL recovery, has no mobility problems at all, and became the sweet and feisty cuddly girl we love.

Thank you for giving her a second shot at life and a loving home! Congrats, Matilda! Happy life 💚🐾🎉🥳

Sweet Mimi was returned last night at no fault of her own. It ended up not being a great fit for her so she’s back on the hunt for her forever home! Until then, she’s safe in the arms of her foster getting all the extra cuddles and doing the zoomies around the house. 💚

Mimi scored it big with her forever home where she'll get to hang out with her new pawrents who are retired and have so much love to give. She'll also have a doggy friend to pal around with!

Mimi is a sweet and gentle 12-year-old Cairn Terrier with a heart full of love to give. Found as a stray, she’s now thriving in her foster home and ready to find her forever family.

This senior gal enjoys the simple pleasures in life—lounging on the couch, taking slow walks in the sunshine, and curling up in a cozy lap. Mimi lives peacefully with dogs of all sizes in her foster home, often sharing naps in a comfy doughnut bed. She’s also great around cats!

Despite her age, Mimi is fully potty trained and well-behaved. She doesn’t have teeth, so she’ll need wet food for the rest of her life to ensure the integrity of her jawbone.

While she loves being near her people, she’s also comfortable spending time in her crate and can be left alone for short periods with only the occasional bark to say hello.

Welcome to CSDRH, Mimi! 💚

This sweet 12-year-old Carin Terrier was found as a stray and was very fearful and shut down when she arrived at the shelter.

She was super stressed out in the noisy shelter and wasn't catching an adopter's eye because her true personality wasn't able to shine in that shelter setting.

This is why it's so impactful to save seniors from shelters—it's a stressful environment!

Thankfully, we were able to break her free from the shelter and she has been adjusting back to living in a cozy foster home.

Her personality is starting to shine and so far she loves cuddling on the couch, following her foster mom around and meal time.

Mimi is almost done with her medical treatments and will be available for adoption soon!

We are thrilled to share that Bella has been adopted! 🎉💚🐾

When Bella first came into our care, she faced a challenging road ahead with numerous masses throughout her body. We weren’t sure if she would need hospice care or if recovery was possible.

After lots of speciality vet appointments to get a care plan in place and the expert care and dedication of her foster parents, Matt and Molly, all of Bella’s masses were successfully removed and tested negative for cancer! She even got her sparkling smile back with a dental cleaning before joining her new family, including her mom and her sister Lucy (another beloved CSDRH alum), this past weekend.

None of this would have been possible without your support. Bella's medical expenses were over $7,000 and your generous donations help us to provide the speciality care she needed in order to live a happy life in her forever home.

Meet Miss Matilda is on the market for her forever home. 🐾 💚

This sweet 10-year-old Yorkie may be small, but she has a huge personality that’s bound to brighten your day.

Matilda’s journey has been tough—she was found beside a dumpster in a laundry basket, severely emaciated and unable to walk.

Thankfully, animal control transferred her to one of our shelter partners, who reached out to see if we could give her the care she needed.

Since then, Matilda’s made an incredible comeback! She’s gotten a clean bill of health and even has her cute little prance back as she moseys around her foster home.

Matilda currently lives with dogs and cats and gets along well most of the time, though she can be a bit protective over her food—understandably so, given her past. She does best with meals in her crate, where she feels safe and secure.

This girl loves short walks, cuddles on the couch, and will do just about anything for a tasty treat! While she’s not house-trained, Matilda’s charm and sweet personality make her impossible to resist.

Bordeaux has finally been cleared for anesthesia! We’ve been working on getting her kidney values in a better place before putting her under for a dental cleaning. Bloodwork last week came back and cleared her for the procedure.

We're excited to announce that Chachi has finally found his forever home! After spending over six months with us, he’s now happily playing with his two new doggy siblings in his forever home.

Before joining CSDRH, Chachi had been in and out of the shelter. His dedicated foster, Diane, worked tirelessly with him for months to help him overcome his separation anxiety and house training issues. Thanks to her patience and guidance, Chachi learned that living with humans can be a joyful experience. He has blossomed into a relaxed, happy pup who still retains his playful spirit!

We are ecstatic to learn that all of Bella's test results came back negative for cancer! This little lady who had multiple masses removed alongside her spleen, is officially CANCER FREE! She will go in for her dental cleaning soon and then be on the hunt for her adoptive home!

Sweet Bella had her big surgery last week and is at home recovering! She had a splenectomy (removal of spleen), and a mammary mass removed, a mass on her lymph node taken out, and was spayed at the same time. She did excellent under surgery and is healing up before getting her dental done at the end of the month.

This little lady has racked up the vet bills and we sure could use help in paying those down!

We are sad to share the news that our hospice dog Bex passed away this weekend. She was one of the strongest willed dogs we’ve ever known. She had a fighter’s spirit.

Before crossing the rainbow bridge Bex enjoyed a deluxe cheeseburger and an ice cream sundae all to herself. Naturally, she loved it. The one thing that gives us comfort is that Bex is finally reunited with her mom and sister up in heaven where we’re sure they had a joyous reunion.

We’re honored to have cared for you, Bex. Run free, we love you. 💚🌈
