We are committed to serving our community as a socially-conscious shelter; caring for thousands of animals a year. We are a true community resource and offer a variety of services including pet adoption, Jefferson County pet licensing, affordable spaying and neutering, vaccinations, m

🚨 We've made important updates to our Vaccine Clinic schedule and pricing! 🚨
Effective January 1, our weekly low-cost Vaccine Clinic is now held on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Additionally, the DA2PPV vaccine (canine distemper/parvo) will no longer be free; all vaccines are now $25.
Finally, we look forward to welcoming cats back to our clinic for services beginning Thursday, January 11!

The Denver Animal Shelter clinic services are first come, first served; often service numbers for maximum capacity are given out prior to 9 am. Due to high demand, customers should plan to arrive prior to the clinic start time to receive a service number.
No animal deserves to be in pain. Fleetwood Mac arrived at Foothills in immense pain from a severe pelvic fracture.
We settled Fleetwood into a foster home with countless cozy blankets to choose from and endless love and attention. When pets feel better, they heal better.
Fleetwood's recovery in foster care was slow, but we were committed to giving him the second chance he deserved and the time he needed to regain his mobility. Today, Fleetwood is thriving in a loving home!

Leia and her 10 puppies are among the 10,000 animals who entered our doors this year in need of safe shelter, compassion, and unconditional love. A devoted mother with a large litter of rowdy puppies in tow, Leia counted on us to help provide her family with warm beds and full bellies.
Leia and her family are currently in our Foster Program, in a safe, warm home where she can nurture her puppies. The litter is thriving, growing bigger and stronger each day!

"We adopted Ellaria from Foothills Animal Shelter on 1/10. We adopted her within a few days of adopting her new brother, Jaqen. Ellaria has been showing off her sweet and sassy personality and has created the most adorable bond with Jaqen. When she isn't busy cuddling up with Jaqen in their hammock, she loves playing with her new siblings, toys, or slippers. She's a little queen commander!"

"I’m writing to let you know that my humans love me very much, and I am inseparably bonded to them. You might remember me as Ben, but my new name is Master William Winkerson or Wink for short. My humans have given me a wonderful home with two cat trees, lots of interactive toys, and many cozy places to sleep. I wake them up every morning at breakfast time by licking their faces. My humans have taught me how to walk on a leash and take me outside daily for environmental enrichment. I’ve become very comfortable riding in cars and go on many adventures.
I wanted to thank you for taking such good care of me during my stay in your shelter and helping me find such a wonderful family. On the first anniversary of my Adoption Day, I’m doing very well and so happy in my new home."

Colin* faced challenges of substance use and housing instability. During difficult times, he would turn to his beloved cat companions to keep him grounded and to maintain hope. When he made the courageous decision to enter a temporary sober living facility, a new obstacle arose—what would happen to his cherished feline companions? Colin turned to Foothills Animal Shelter for help. Our Better Together team worked with Colin to create a plan that allowed him to focus on his recovery while ensuring his cats would be safe and well-cared for at our Shelter.
Today, Colin has completed his treatment, secured housing, and lives happily reunited with his beloved cats.

Stormi arrived at Foothills after being involved in a terrible car accident that ejected her from the vehicle. Her back leg was severely broken, but her spirits were high. After evaluating the extent of Stormi's injury, our veterinary team ultimately determined amputation was the puppy's best chance at a happy, pain-free life.
Stormi's surgery went smoothly, and it wasn't long until she found a loving home, taking on the world with her three healthy paws!

It's that time of the year...colder weather approaches! Here are some tips and tricks from ASPCA to keep your pet toasty warm and safe from the elements this winter.
❄️ Always clean your pet's paws thoroughly after walks or outside time, and check for any cracks in paw pads. Massaging petroleum jelly into paw pads before going outside can help protect their paws from the elements and chemicals. Booties provide even more coverage!
❄️ Antifreeze is a lethal poison for dogs and cats! Be sure to thoroughly clean up any spills from your vehicle to keep our furry friends safe.
❄️ Pets burn extra energy during the winter to keep warm. Providing a little extra food during these chilly months can help them fight the cold with those much-needed calories!
❄️ A good rule of thumb: if it's too cold for you, it's probably too cold for them! Consider swapping the outdoor walk with mental games to play indoors on extreme weather days. This will keep your pet enriched and stimulated!
