Meet our Foothills Alum, Linus!

"We wanted to thank Foothills for taking care of our sweet boy, Linus, before he joined our family last April. It took him a few weeks to come out of his shell and feel comfortable in his new home. But once he realized he was here to stay he has become cuddly, playful, curious and sincerely content. We've done a lot of training with him which has made a world of difference in his confidence. He is the BEST hiker - ready for any outdoor adventure and just as happy to cuddle with his people. We love him so much and can't imagine our family without him."

Lucille is reported to be the perfect office dog. She is a pro at relaxing on her bed, and often wiggles up to staff and volunteers for pets and yummy treats. Our volunteers describe Lucille as gentle and easy to walk, and tell us she is amazing company.

Attention pet owners! Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 17! Lakewood Police Animal Control is partnering with the City of Wheat Ridge’s Animal Control, Foothills Animal Shelter and Spay2Day for the "Shot Spot & Vaccination Clinic" from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Paramount Park located in Wheat Ridge. There will be low-cost services for your dogs (…and cats) and you can also license your friendly & leashed doggos for only $20.00. This is open to all Jefferson County Colorado Government residents. Adoption fees are still half-off for adult dogs aged 1 year and older! Here are some of our adult shelter dogs who want to meet you this weekend! ❤️

⭐️ 6-year-old Juno loves a good adventure just as much as he loves lounging the afternoon away in a sunny spot.
⭐️ Energetic Pepper has a love for life that's contagious. She will fit right in with you on your hikes, walks, or runs.
⭐️ Charlie can be a little shy to start. After a good game of fetch, he'll show you his playful side!
⭐️ Odie is smart and eager to learn a few tricks and some basic training! He sits for treats and will lean in for pets and give kisses. He'll enjoy spending quality time with his family learning fun skills.
⭐️ Ferdinand would enjoy a quiet home with a smaller circle of trusted besties. He has a huge heart and quite the affectionate side to him!
⭐️ Easy-going Kaiser is a big fan of sniffy walks and lounging. He is very well mannered and will never say no to back scritches!

We are grateful we could shower our volunteers with appreciation this week. Whether they’re walking dogs, providing enrichment, keeping kennels tidy and clean, or offering a comforting presence to our shelter pets, our volunteers do it all—and then some.

Last year alone, they donated an incredible 33,544 hours of their time. To us, that's 33,544 hours of love, care, and commitment to animals and the people who love them.

We’re grateful for them every day, but this week, we’re shouting it from the rooftops. Thank you, volunteers! You make life better for pets and people. 🐾 💚
