🌟 Introducing our April Dog of the Month: Clyde! 🐾 This 3-year-old boxer is a bundle of energy and joy at Rover Retreat. He’s a pro at hanging out in Enrichment sessions and loves boxing with our human, Leigh. 🥊 Clyde’s favorite pastimes include playing chase and tug of war with any toy he can get his paws on. 🐶 His best pals, Aspen the Golden Retriever and Luther the Boxer, are always by his side for fun adventures! 🌟
Boy oh boy we sure are missing summer time today. We vote that the groundhog should be fired! Didn’t he say a short winter this year? what happened! 😂🤨 (we just know all of our husky/malamute/mountain friends are having the best day ever though!)

His days are filled with joy as he engages in lively toy play, indulges in tasty treats, snuggles with his favorite humans, and enjoys peaceful naps. 😴🧸
But Bingley’s true happy place is in our enrichment zone, where he thrives on new experiences and quality hangout time. 🌈🐕

Kira is an 8 and a 1/2 year old Anatolian shepherd mix, who spends her days hanging out in the Rover Retreat office. One of her favorite things to do, is looking out the office window to people watch. When she’s not napping😴, she is getting belly rubs, eating yummy treats🥩, or studying her French.🇫🇷

Happy Pawlidays from some of Rover Retreat’s enrichment dogs. They got to spend their day with one of Santa Paws’ elves on Tuesday. Each of them hopes everyone stays safe and has fun this pawliday season!

We are sure you all have heard about the respiratory dog illness. While it does sound scary we are hoping to put your mind at ease.
So what is it?
“Mystery dog illness” will have most all the same symptoms kennel cough does: fatigue, coughing lasting 7-10 days, sneezing, and eye or nose discharge. If the illness worsens, it could turn into pneumonia.* This cough can last 6 weeks or more and does not respond to treatment (antibiotics, rest).
How much DO we know about this?
This illness does not have a cure currently, but the AMVA is working tirelessly on it. “Current disease patterns aren’t consistent with the emergence of a new highly transmissible pathogen” -Dr. Rena Carlson, president of AMVA.*
How bad is it? Should I stop bringing my dog to daycare?
Dr. Scott Weese, an infectious diseases vet, said “we’ve got some areas that have seen some spikes, but I don’t think there’s a huge North America-wide outbreak.”* There’s no need to panic, but being cautious is always fine! Making sure your dog is up to date on vaccinations against pathogens is the most we can do right now. Always be proactive and look for the signs. There are many articles from trusted resources such as UC Davis and AMVA that have lots of helpful information on this illness.
While we do our best to keep our facility clean we can never fully prevent any illnesses. With us being booked up for Thanksgiving and now again for Christmas, if we had an outbreak it would have shown by now. We want you all to know that there is no need for panic. Our staff is working tirelessly to ensure our facility is clean and all of the pups in our care our safe. We are taking great measures to lookout for any signs of illness. Our staff members have been notified of the symptoms to lookout for and if any dogs start to show symptoms we will immediately isolate them. Maggie is a 2 year old Shepherd mix with a wild personality. She enjoys spending her days in our high energy puppies groups, where she makes every friend she can. If a dog wants to be her friend, she will be happy to accept. If she’s not in the puppies group, you can find her out in the main yard making friends with the bigger dogs, and showing them how much fun it is to play with her. Congratulations again Maggie! We love having you as a part of our pack!🩷

Sicario is a 8 year old Australian Kelpie Mix who enjoys spending his days here in the main yard, littles group, or hiding behind the desk. He doesn’t play often but he loves to snuggle with friends in the lobby over naptime or sunbathe outside during other parts of the day.

He also loves spending his days in enrichment with Cass, Nadia, Tony, Vulture, Jayla, and Leigh! We are happy to have such a wonderful boy in our Rover pack!
Howl-O-Ween Enrichment day 1 was so much fun! These pups had a spooky good time!! 🎃💀👻

Banjo is a 2 year old hound mix who spends his days here at Rover in Enrichment. When he’s not in Enrichment you can catch him running around the yard or wrestling in the puppies group! he love all the toys in the world and is happy with anything he is given to play with; however is favorite toys are spiky balls!
Banjo makes friends with (almost) anyone and is just happy to be involved. he loves getting belly rubs from us humans and will yell at us if we stop too soon. but that okay because who could ever say no to that face 🥹
We love you Banjo big guy and we are so proud to have you as a part of our pack! 🩷🎉🐾🥳
