The Coker Feed Mill Story
Coker Feed Mill has been providing for animal health and nutrition in the same little corner of Eastern North Carolina since Mr. Riley and Mrs. Mabel started shelling corn for local farmers in 1949.
It began when Mr. Riley Coker, whose health was declining due to rheumatoid arthritis, decided to quit farming to***co and take a leap of faith. He, Mrs. Mabel, and their five young daughters opened their doors on December 10, 1949, not sure if they’d have a single customer. They didn’t have just a single customer. As the story goes, they had a line of customers as far they could see. While he claimed he was "no office man," Mr. Riley's business continued to grow. With the aid of a wheelchair, he spent time at the mill every day for as long as he was able.
Mr. Riley’s son, Riley Brantley, had ambitions to continue his father's legacy of integrity when he began running the business in 1980. He and his wife Gay worked many hours at the mill, growing the business with honesty, consistency, quality, and service. While their competitors were formulating their feed to maximize profit, Brantley and Gay maintained their high standards and excellent customer relations, stamping their personal guarantee on every bag sold.
They still guarantee every bag. If the family and employees of Coker Feed Mill don’t already manufacture or carry what you need, they are sure to find it. Coker Feed Mill currently manufactures Amber Grains Horse Feed and Carolina Pride Livestock Feed. They retail Showtime, Buddy Boy, Best Dog, Victor, and Diamond dog food, as well as Tribute Equine Nutrition, livestock feed from Kalmbach and High Noon Show feeds, and just about any other animal health or nutrition product you may need. Whether you buy a single bag or three tons, they’ll load your car for you. The selection and service at Coker Feed Mill can’t be beat!
