Part 3
Got the black lab to like me and let me handle the leash with him
I did not fully gain his trust as he would freak out over a leaf. Handling the leash is very scary when they are on a collar. I went to the slip lead very quickly and was more comfortable with them staying with me.

Do not reach
A dog's nose is incredibly powerful and does not need your hand extension to help.
Many times in this video I get the urge to reach out to the dog. I want to pet the dog and fulfill my needs. Through my years of work and study I know not to do so because it is only helping me. Once the dog has interacted with me on their time then I will interact back. Respect the dog and do not reach

I got two new dogs that will be perfect to show what I do and don't do with nervous dogs.
Do not say "it's ok" over and over or anything like that. Do not speak with a sad tone
Do not say anything at all
