Meet Mango, a 3 year old Husky mix. Mango has had a difficult couple of months and is looking for his forever home!
Mango came to us in September after being seen at Animal Emergency & Critical Care in Lynchburg. He had been picked up by Bedford Animal Control because he had a severe injury to his front left leg and his owner could not be found. AECC thinks Mango was hit by a car causing irreparable damage. They did what they could to stabilize him and sent him to Riverside the following day for an amputation. He needed to build up some strength before surgery but several days later Dr. Ryan was able to perform the amputation.
During this time Mango’s owner was found. However, he knew he was not going to be able to provide the care Mango needed and decided to surrender him to the Bedford Animal Shelter.
Now Mango is doing much better, getting used to only having 3 legs and is ready for new, loving home. He loves people and wants to be included in everything. Mango does great with other dogs, but needs to be watched around food. And he loves our hospital cats. Being a husky, Mango loves to sing! He is a very active pup and probably would do best in a house without small children.
If you would like to adopt Mango, please contact Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter to fill out an application. Or you can donate to help Mango and animals like him receive the care that they need. https://friendsofbedfordcountyanimalshelter.rescuegroups.org/
