Gwin , Guppy and the boys went to Blackfoot idaho for a dock diving day. The judges kept commenting on how cute Gwin was with her kangaroo jumps 😂

Gwin had a personal best and also gained another title !

Just because a dog is AKC registered, doesn’t mean it has a good pedigree.

Just because you don’t want to compete in dog sports doesn’t mean you don’t want to buy a dog from lines who have competed. Those letters next to a dogs name for generations prove trainability, intelligence and adaptability, as well as, health testing for the entirety of the dogs lineage. There’s a reason military and police departments acquire their working retrievers from hunt test and field trial pedigrees.

Just because someone selling puppies says they are “health checked,” doesn’t mean they have OFA tested hips and elbows, genetic panels etc. their vets opinion of the health of their dog means nothing when it comes to breeding mentally and physically sound dogs.

Well bred dogs cost more up front, you’re paying for all the time and energy put into the parents, more so than the puppy itself. But, it is typically a “buy once, cry once,” situation. Well bred dogs typically are more willing to train, have far less mental/behavior issues and will cost you far less for the duration of their life.

Guppy girl is currently at the end of her heat cycle. We planned on a litter from this heat but ultimately decided to wait another cycle. We have really enjoyed competing with her these last 2 years, she has really grown mentally.
When we do breed her again , it will be her final litter and I can’t wait to raise another litter from gup. She has been a great mother and I know she passes her brains on to her babies. We plan on keeping 2 of her females and training both for hunt test.
The stud we chose will complement her with equal pedigree, health and hunt test ability as we strive to improve the golden retriever breed and work towards making the golden breed what it was intended to be.

I’ll keep you posted on the stud choice.

The Golden Retriever Ch. Sprucewood's Chocki was one of the Top Ten winners in the Sporting group during both 1956 and 1967 with a total of 9 BIS; he also won 37 Sporting groups and 21 other group placements. He was one of a litter of nine champions (one brother was also a BIS winner) bred by Mr. & Mrs. M. C. Zwang of Hudson, Wisconsin. They also owned Chocki, who was handled by Hollis Wilson.

Chocki's sire was Ch. Golden Knoll's Alphonzo (who won at least 18 BIS in the years before Chocki's campaigns) out of Ch. Chee Chee of Sprucewood.

Guppy did so great this weekend and earned her first two passes toward her HRC title. As you can see ….she is also very proud 🤣

Guppy is enjoying her quiet time after a really beautiful run this morning on water.
Gwin got some points on the board this morning as well. Her water entry was beautiful and I wish I would have had a photographer 😝
Danni of course , was a rockstar and enjoyed her last run with me as her handler. I think my kids will handle her from now on.

In hunt test , there is a tradition where the handler gets a bucket of water over the head when their dog titles. Tonight I took a bucket for my Danni dog. I’ll gladly take a bucket for any of my dogs but especially this one.
Danni is the core of my breeding program, she is a beautiful example of what a golden was actually bred to be. She is honest , hard working , smart, beautiful and at the same time carries herself with grace and majesty. I will forever be in pursuit of replicating my Daenerys, mother of dragons.

Guppies Underwater Adventure gained her Dock Junior Title , accomplished completely by my youngest son Gabe! I'm so proud of this team, they are so good together! Guppies last jump of the season, she jumped into the senior level. I fully expect these two to get her senior title next year !

Eli and Gwin have won the weekend 🦮🤩 she moved up two divisions as Eli as her handler. I’m so proud of both ! This is one of her jumps today 🙌🏻 she went from basically falling off the dock to her last one being 16 feet 6 inches
