I shared this strawberry with my Valerie today. Lucky for her! It was our first large strawberry. It gave me flash backs of strawberry patches when I was a kid. Just amazingly sweet and fresh! Exactly what our food is suppose to taste like. I can’t wait till next year! This strawberry patch is growing and will be fully established. Mmmmmmm

Really excited about my current chicks. Been an odd hatch due to power outages but going great. Minimal/no food waste with my 3 part chick feeding system. Getting great results and will be sharing them soon. Love saving half my feed and no more catch trays full of food!

Chicks are hatching which means my next and final chick no waste series is coming to an end. I will be going through all the steps of how to brood and cut food waste to a minimal. I have cut my food waste 50-60 percent.

Finally came up with a efficient way to cut down on my chick feed waist. I’m now a believer in grinding up my feed the first 2 weeks

So happy! Hatching always is exciting. I had very low expectations due to breeding slowing down for winter and the crazy weather that affects our quail. Between incubator issues and humidity failure. I found a blessing this morning with 10-13 chicks hatches. Mother Nature is very resilient!

I decided to run a winter hatch to see how they are doing. To my absolute surprise I have 41 eggs on lockdown today. Just got through candling. I’m just tickled. Now I’m not getting my hopes up. I didn’t expect 15-20 eggs to be viable at most. All my birds are outside in deep liters. I figured the cold while collecting would have devastated/cut breeding and fertility. I guess the warmer day kept a few more of them busier than I ever would have expected. If I get 10-15 chicks I will be absolutely happy. Expectations already exceeded this hatch.

This is my no waist feeder. It took a few or many tries to get it to work well. This is my latest build for my brooder. It was a little different from my other U shaped feeders but it works crazy good.

Finally got my mini chick brooder video done. Very efficient and very happy with the results. Did a lot of add ons but it was well worth it. Amazing what we can do with some junk and ingenuity.

The most efficient brooder you can make. Very heat efficient. Compact making it great for 60-70 quail up to 2 weeks old. Best upgrade I’ve done

Never try to rebuild a brooder while your running a hatch. They started hatching today and I have about 4 hours work left to get it wired up and complete. I will be getting up at the crack of dawn.
