Summer is dwindling down and I am so, so GRATEFUL today —

We have had gifts and donations pouring in all summer long….fans, fly spray, hay nets, feed, dewormers, helmets, saddle pads, you name it, someone has probably given us one!

Volunteers have showed up to help clean and lesson support — they are the ones that help keep this place running! We have one evening every week that needs seven volunteers to make lessons happen and every week I’m blown away by how many kind people there are that will come out on a hot summer night so kids (that they might not even know!) can ride.

Not a single instructor called off work because it was “too hot” — these people are amazing and show up even when it’s 110+! I am so thankful for this team.

Our horses are happy and healthy, we’ve got some great plans for the fall, and it hasn’t been over a hundred in about week. Happy September, y’all!

** Potential new families - our fall session will start on October 12, so I should know around the end of September what we have open for new students.

Amazing 💜 Moms of special needs kids, check out these special evenings just for you at The HEART Center in Phoenix!

I’m starting something new this fall that’s really close to my own heart- once a month I’ll be opening up the barn just for a mom's night. Welcome to Horse Play: The Moms Edition.

This is a relaxed evening out with the horses for all of us special needs mamas. We’ll spend some time with the horses, learn some simple tools for connection and co-regulation that have helped me over the years and hopefully find a little space to breathe & make a new friend or two.

First night is Sept 18 from 6–8pm at The HEART Center. It’s donation-based, so just come as you are and give what you can- no pressure, no requirements.

🐈 Pebbles and Holly 🐈‍⬛

I am in a terrible position and looking for help to rehome Pebbles and Holly. My husband (a disabled Army Vet) has recently passed away from ALS at only 40 yrs. To help us through this, my kids and I are moving across country to be closer to family and friends. As hard as it is, we are unable to take Pebbles and Holly with us. They are sweet girls, about 4 yrs old and spayed. Good with kids and dogs. I have confirmed with the vet that their vaccines for life can transfer to new owner(s) if you stay with Lovet Vets (Formally Sarival Animal Hospital).

We have something to fun share! A Microschool Camp has been in the works for a year now and thanks to our partners with City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation- We received a grant to make this amazing weekend happen at the end of this month!

No pressure, no fuss- just good ol outdoor fun. Only requirement is that each school represented must have a leader attend with them!

Oh wow! THANK YOU to Community Paws and Chewy for a truck overflowing with horse food and supplies! This was our first time participating; it was so well-organized and everyone was helpful and friendly. What a blessing for our barn!

You prepay for the month, choose a pick-up day (Monday or Friday are available), and we will have the freshest milk possible ready for you each week.

You will need to provide jars or containers for transport.

This milk is not separated and includes the cream.

Per Arizona law, I have to say that this milk is not for human consumption. I will also say that I do not purchase store-bought milk products anymore for my family. 🤷‍♀️

Senior Community Day - Monday, May 5, 11-12! — seniors 65+ are invited to spend their morning learning about horses and connecting with others in a positive, non-judgmental setting.

Come take a walk or a seat and enjoy the peace of the farm. We will have live classical music, Buddy the goat to pet, and horses (and mini horses!) to interact with if you so choose.

Cost: $10/senior, caregivers are free.

We have an AMAZING local pony club — if you have a horse-crazy kid (whether they are a Barn student or not), please check them out! Their meetings and activities are a fantastic complement to any lesson program.

🐴✨ Pony Club Fun Ahead! ✨🐴
We’ve had an exciting spring and there’s even more on the horizon for the members of Desert Hooves Pony Club – and it's all possible thanks to YOUR support!

🎉 Just this past weekend, we held a Games Day at Sovereign Farm where members of all levels (even hobby horse riders!) competed in fun, relay-style events. Think pole bending, baton passing, and big smiles all around!

📚 Up next – Quiz Rally on May 4th!
This is a horseless event focused on horse management knowledge and is open to clubs across Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and beyond. It’s also a qualifier for USPC Championships in Kentucky 2026 – a huge goal for many of our members!

🐎 Ongoing Activities:
We host at least two mounted and two unmounted meetings every month. Whether our members have horses or not, everyone gets a chance to participate and learn. Many of our riders share or borrow mounts thanks to amazing volunteers (shoutout to Tracie!).

🏕️ Summer Camp at Jackpot Ranch – June:
A full week of learning, riding, games, and fun in Camp Verde. With daily lessons, crafts, and hands-on care, it's a highlight of the year for our kids! This year, many of our younger members will get to experience the magic (and work!) of their first Pony Club Camp.

🌄 Colorado Inter-Regional Rally – July:
This event includes dressage, jumping, and trail competitions – and also a creative “Everything But The Horses” rally for our younger or horseless members. Yes, that includes shoebox model horses and imaginary stalls, complete with p**p patrols and water checks. It’s educational AND adorable.

💥 So much of what we do—from clinics to competitions to camp—is made possible by our community of donors.
