Pet Supplies Plus - Goose Creek, SC Pet Supplies Plus- Goose Creek opened in January of 2017. We are a locally owned store and carry a large selection of food and products for your pets.

Our emphasis is on friendly staff and superb customer service. Our store provides full service grooming plus a self service dog bathing area. Community involvement is important to us. You can often find us at community events with giveaways, coupons and smiling faces at our booth. Cats and kittens for adoption from Berkeley Animal Center greet you in the store and most weekends we host an area ani

mal rescue to help find permanent homes for dogs in need. Twice a month we offer an in store veterinary clinic, with no appointment necessary. Stop by and visit us!

First impressions are everything, right?

Well, just before I was to meet Bruce and his foster mom for photos this week, I decided to give Gracie a quick loop at the local park. I could see that they had arrived a little early – but I could also see Bruce’s nice manners as I approached! He was loose leash walking and giving ‘good boy sits’ for her cell phone camera 😊 There was activity in the park (geese, track walkers), and I could tell he was happy to be on an adventure. He greeted me – a stranger - so nicely, no jumping, and we started walking for his photos. He was looking around curious about all the things, but he still paid attention to what we asked.

He's STUNNING - you may even say strikingly handsome. Bruce is also very well-built! His shiny coat with its espresso undertones definitely catches your eye! And speaking of eyes, couldn’t you just drown in his?! My goodness...

Bruce knows several commands, has been through a training program and it shows … ! He really was an easy kid and I always appreciate that when I’m overcommitted for time. 😊 He only needed about 15 minutes, including walking time in the park -- and then I had the pleasure of a few moments alone with him where he was so sweet and gave such gentle kisses while waiting for his foster mom to return.

Still with me? Here are his baseball card stats:
• 1.5 years old
• Neutered, healthy and just about 50 lbs.
• Happy, loving, well-adjusted – eager to please!
• Dog-friendly but needs a slow warm-up/intro period
• Fine with cats, although he may try to play with them
• Secretly wants to be someone’s adventure buddy!
• Playful with a submissive playstyle
• An excellent snuggler and couch co-pilot

Backstory:
Bruce was gifted by a friend to ease a man’s loneliness after losing everything in a house fire (the home, the wife and his sense of stability). Unfortunately, there was no room for Bruce in the small camper where the man lived, so Bruce spent much of his early life tied to a short chain under a tree, with irregular food, water, and shelter.

Have I lost you yet? No? Okay, here’s the ONLY kicker:
Bruce is super dog-friendly once introduced slowly. It just takes him a couple of days to settle in via crate/rotate, and then he’s completely submissive to his dog friends! His foster will add videos to the comments so you can see for yourself. I’m personally such a huge proponent of decompression anyway, but it’s never a good idea to just throw a new dog into an established situation and hope for the best. That’s not the right way to do it – and the good news is, Bruce’s foster DOES KNOW the right way so any intros and meet-n-greets would be done smartly.

Other than having to be patient for a couple of days and settle him through this quirk, Bruce seems like a perfect gentleman to me and if I were in the market for a great dog, this wouldn’t be a deal breaker AT ALL. I could wait a couple of days for such an awesome dog to be comfortable in my home. Can you? He’d do well as an only pet too, or one with just kitty companions.
