Types of homes and what they entail.
Pet home- a pet home/AKC Limited registration is where the pup is strictly a pet. That means NO breeding.
Guardian home- guardian home is an awesome opportunity! It’s where a pup is looking for a loving pet home but will eventually be a part of my breeding program if it grows up to my expectations. You get an AMAZING pet with a nice discount! Now that does not mean the dog is not yours. The dog is YOUR pet. I just get to borrow him (normally males) for breeding. This requires a responsible family that can manage in intact dog. This helps with programs so they can keep back lines without having to physically keep the dog on property. I normally require these homes to be within a certain distance of me. Once dog is RETIRED (upon breeders approval) or if the dog for some reason doesn’t match my expectations, the dog will be neutered and will remain a pet with you!
Co own- a co own is where 2 breeders essentially share a dog. I usually do this for people that have an interest in breeding but don’t quite know the ropes yet. Or some breeders prefer to do this so they can keep a puppy back from the dog in the future. Some people also prefer to do this instead of purchasing full registration so they can watch the puppy grow and decide if they want to purchase full later (this goes for established breeders).
Full registration/breeding home- I very rarely offer full registration. If you want full registration you must have a goal in mind for your breeding program. Not just want to have it because you have the other male/female at home already and want a puppy from the dog you have. I will not sell on full just because someone thinks the dog is theirs and they should have the “right” to do as they please. I will not sell on full because you want to breed your dog “Angel” to keep a puppy back so you always have a piece of her. That sounds really sentimental and I don’t blame you but that’s not how it works! The puppy could turn out to be COMPLETELY different than your dog Angel. Not to mention breeding is a lot of work and very very expensive. I pour my soul into my program so please don’t be offended if I don’t want to sell my puppies with full registration. Now if you buy a pup on limited/pet and we both agree the dog is an amazing representation of the breed then I can always offer you the opportunity to purchase full registration later or do a co own.
