What an insightful training demonstration by Steven Yoder of Sterling Equine Professions, showcasing the journey from his Amish roots to training horses for world championship titles. Many people ask what sets Sterling apart, and the answer lies in mastering the basics: consistent feeding, clean water, a consistent work schedule and the understanding that bad behavior is man-made.
A special thank you to Starlit Stables and Maple Equine for sponsoring this fantastic event, and to Starlit Stables, Maple Equine, and Chestnut Dreams for allowing their horses to serve as ambassadors for Sterling. The demonstration began with a glimpse into their daily work with a three-year-old stallion, Michigan Man. Steven then demonstrated the proper way to fit a show harness and its significance. The audience was captivated by the performances of three road horses: WC Bubbles N Suds, WCC WC Knight of Oz, and Jasper The Man, showcasing the artistry of showing a road horse versus simply driving.
Richard Yoder expertly presented his roadster wagon pair, WC Manga and Dior, before WC RWC Dr. Gump took the spotlight, illustrating why he was the first roadster stallion to win a world championship title. To top it off, an audience member took a spin, highlighting Sterling's exceptional training and the remarkable capabilities of Dr. Gump!
We appreciate the support from everyone and enjoyed demonstrating our techniques, inspiring many breeders to see what the end goal can be and what they can strive for.
