I had a great time at the paint out today with my friend Lindsay and it really made me think I should do more plein air painting. It’s very challenging and even though my paper was just 9”x12”, I felt I was painting much too slowly and barely finished before the 4ish hour deadline.

What’s new with this goofy Gosport artist?

First, I’d like to invite you all to take a gander at my new prints on:

This is my Self Portrait series and I encourage you to read the descriptions of each of the 6 pieces to get an idea of what I was thinking when I created them.

Second, I’d like to invite you to see the originals in person at the Hoosier Artist Gallery in Nashville, Indiana. Two of the originals have already sold and will soon be replaced by their print counterparts. So the time to see them in all their glory is now!

Third, I’ve brought more original cat breed paintings to the gallery. These are unframed and unmatted, keeping the price point low for all you original art lovers and cat fanciers out there. I only have 8 cat paintings left in my studio- the rest have either sold or are waiting for you at the gallery!

Fourth, I look forward to attending the Owen County Art Guild Paint Out at the Owen Valley Winery, Vineyard & Bistro Harvest Moon Festival this Saturday! Would you like to join me? I have extra easels and I can share my watercolor pallet and brushes with up to one other person- they give you the paper or canvas to work on. It’s a $10 donation to the guild that does so much good for the young artists of the community.

Fifth, don’t forget I’m hosting a Watercolor Workshop on Saturday, October 4th at the Hoosier Artist Gallery. It’s free!

I was at my parents’ house this weekend and got to see one of my first watercolor compositions from High School. It was a master study of Winslow Homer’s Sloop, Bermuda.

What a difference 18 years makes!

My new idea:

Watercolor Wednesdays

Every Wednesday I’ll post a time-lapse progress video of a small painting. I have an album full of source photos called ‘things to paint’ and I need to work on whittling that down. Maybe I’ll take requests, too!

Each painting will be $100. I can ship it, deliver it, or you can pick it up in Nashville. Whatever works. First to comment and pay gets it!

If you miss it, dont worry, I’ll be making prints eventually!

I’m still working on comissions and probably won’t be opening them for Christmas this year.
