I was at my parents’ house this weekend and got to see one of my first watercolor compositions from High School. It was a master study of Winslow Homer’s Sloop, Bermuda.

What a difference 18 years makes!

My new idea:

Watercolor Wednesdays

Every Wednesday I’ll post a time-lapse progress video of a small painting. I have an album full of source photos called ‘things to paint’ and I need to work on whittling that down. Maybe I’ll take requests, too!

Each painting will be $100. I can ship it, deliver it, or you can pick it up in Nashville. Whatever works. First to comment and pay gets it!

If you miss it, dont worry, I’ll be making prints eventually!

I’m still working on comissions and probably won’t be opening them for Christmas this year.

Doin’ a little sketch and realizing:

1. Dang, these Dexter cows are tiny
2. Dang, these turkeys are huge

And the fact that I have the jumbo bird in the foreground and tiny cow in the background makes it look even more ridiculous

Your skin is your body's largest organ. Do you want to learn how to make a very basic bar of cold-process goat milk and lard soap? Join me in my pretty-normal kitchen. It's not a laboratory, and its not a film set. Just a basic setting to help you learn the basics of making something we all use every day. Consider that soap was made in the household until only about a hundred years ago. Just another common skill lost in only a couple generations.

Stick around afterward for a farm tour, if you'd like. The class should take an hour or so.

Because cold-processed soap takes a month to cure, you'll be taking home a few bars of soap I've already made, instead of the soap we'll be making during the class.

No filming, please; though you're encouraged to take notes!
