Another great n**e model session!

This session was 2 hours.

As much as I wanted to really detailed about the fabric folds, I had to remind myself that this is a figure study!

Looks a lot like my last one 😬

Next time I’ll set up at a different angle!

If you’re interested- we get together in Spencer on the second Tuesday of the month from 5:30-7:30pm. We all pitch in $10 to pay for the model and everyone brings their own supplies. Not a class, just access to a n**e model who is willing to sit for you for extended periods of time (who has that at home, right?!). Message me for location

My really great apprentice and I did a challanging exercise today as the snow started to fall.
10”x8” watercolor
We each worked on a rose for 30 minutes, then SWITCHED and did that about 5 times total, or maybe 4? I don’t remember- either way we completed these in under 3 hours and had a critique at the end.
It was great because neither was ‘ours’ but also both were kind of ours.

I recommend trying it out! Definitely hard, but really fun.

My thesis show in college was a collection of zoomed-in reef aquascapes (in oil) so you couldn’t always see the glass of the aquarium. Part of the idea was ‘a painting that may look abstract but is actually realistic’.

Now I’m thinking of doing a very large watercolor of some palačinke (crepe) that may look abstract if you aren’t familiar with this culinary delight. 😆

Could be cool, right?!

What colors should I use on this background? The background colors are going to determine how I paint the wings so I have to figure that out first.
