Happy 4th of July Weekend!! 💙❤️

Firework season is here so it’s important to keep the the safety and well-being of your furry friends in mind. Dogs go missing on the 4th of July more than any other day of the year so here are some tips to keep your dog calm and safe during firework displays:

❤️Identification: *This is of the utmost importance!* Ensure your dog’s ID tags and microchip information are up-to-date in case they manage to escape.

💙Create a Safe Space: Set up a cozy, quiet area in your home where your dog can feel secure.

❤️Keep Them Indoors: Make sure your dog is inside well before the fireworks start. Close windows, curtains, and doors to minimize the noise and flashing lights.

💙Use Soothing Sounds: Play calming music or turn on the TV to help drown out the sound of fireworks.

❤️Stay Calm: Your dog can sense your emotions. Stay calm and act normally to help reassure your dog that there is nothing to fear.

💙Provide Comfort: Offer your dog a favorite toy or blanket. Chewing on a toy can help relieve stress.

❤️Avoid Fireworks: do not take your dog to a fireworks display. The loud noises and crowds can be overwhelming and frightening.

💙Exercise Beforehand: Take your dog for a long walk earlier in the day to help tire them out and reduce anxiety later on.

❤️Consider Anxiety Aids: If your dog gets very anxious, consider using anxiety wraps, pheromone diffusers, or consulting your vet for other calming options.

Remember, fireworks can be a scary experience for dogs, but with a bit of preparation, you can help keep your pet safe and calm. 🐶
