Our summer horsemanship weeks are off to a great start! Kids are having a blast but don’t take it for me. This was an email from a mother after the first day.

My daughter Sophie just started her camp and it has been so wonderful so far. She came home with so much knowledge and excitement and I am so impressed.

Another fun and successful Horse Show weekend! Thank you Run O’ The Mill for putting on a great show.

Congratulations Reagan at your first horse show and getting grand champion in the ground pole division.  Along with the bows 🎀 you make that are extremely adorable. Keira and Emily were very successful in their 2 foot and 2’3” division both coming home with grand champion. Grace stepped it up in her 2’6” to 2’9” division bringing home the reserve Champion. It was also fun to see Grace get back in the dressage ring coming home with second place in first level test. Always a fun time and I look forward to the next one in two weekends.

Congratulations to the girls for a successful horse show weekend!

Everyone had a great first show of the season. They learned lots, had fun with great success.

Emily was reserve champion in Long stirrup, Keira also got a reserve champion in the limit division and Grace got champion in large pony and also won her large pony classic. Great job girls look forward to showing again next weekend and with some more students.

FROM A PARENT:
One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to ride horses?" Well I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kids to ride horses. Personally, I couldn't care less about the horses.

So, if I am not paying for them to ride, what am I paying for?

- I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't.

- I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go the barn but go anyway.

- I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined.

- I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body.

- I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates.

- I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't get that score they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the grading.

- I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals.

- I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight.

- I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships.

- I pay so that my kids can be in the arena instead of in front of a screen...
..I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for horse riding, I pay for the opportunities that horse riding provides my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!

What a great time we had at WHJA Fall Finals this year! Everybody helped each other out and supported one another. With only three students we had a great wall of ribbons.
Grace Did awesome in large classes with Loving Life. They have come a long way this year and they are back on track to an amazing team! In her limit division she was mostly in the top of the class taking 2nd place in the classic.
She also had many great ribbons in the pony division with A champion of the large pony division, taking champion in the pony classic and third in the Marcia Bobek.

Keira also had a great weekend! Can You Keep a Secret and her have been a great team this year! They started out with some nerves on the first day but had an awesome recovery on the second day.They were in the top of their class in the long stirrup honors taking a second in their hunter classic. It was a great way for Keira to finish off her year with Can You Keep a Secret. I look forward to a great year with her and her new mare.

Audrey and Mighty Mouse are such a fun team! There was a big group of ground pole kids at fall finals. She received a couple seconds a couple thirds and a fourth. I look forward to watching this team to continue to grow!
