It was Salvador Cabral and Instant Rebel (Metallic Rebel x One Stylish Doll), owned by Randy Wicke, that took home the Championship marking a 222! I’ve always heard it takes that one special horse to change a young trainer’s life. Well, that is who Playful Smoothtalker was for me aka “Sam”! I can never repay him for what he has done for me and my family. I feel every time I get the opportunity to throw my leg over his back it is a win in itself but what he teaches me is every time I ride him is the thing I’m thankful for. The goals he has reached that I have set for him is unbelievable. If I had 3 words to describe him is heart, try, and smarts. I have found if a horse has one of them you’re lucky but not many of them have all three. So thank you for this year Sam you are that one horse that changed the game. -C**t

It was a tough cutting on some tricky cattle, but in the end, C**t Moore walked away with the 2023 Holy Cow Performance Horses, LLC. Open Futurity Championship and the $20,000 winners check. C**t rode Reckless Time (Stevie Rey Von x Silky Time) bred by Cowan Ranch Inc and owned by Alan Mcewen to a 220 for the win, collecting the $20,000 champions check. Reserve Champion was Wes Galyean Cutting Horses with a 217 riding Hot N Hottest (Hottest x Donas Cool Cat) bred by Paula Wood and owned by SMF Cutting Horses, taking home a check for $16,700

Another one of the young up-and-coming trainers took advantage of the bright lights in Vegas and went all in during the Holy Cow Performance Horses, LLC. Intermediate Open Cutting Stakes Finals. C**t Moore had four horses qualified tonight and was down to his last bullet working from the 16th hole aboard Playful Smoothtalker (Smooth Talkin Style x Playful Ricochet) bred by Jerome Bradford and now owned by the Ten/27 Ranch. Three great cuts and some great showmanship resulted in a 222.5 from the judges, which was good enough for the win and the $5,000 winners check.
Lance Cooper’s 220 aboard Metallic Lou (Metallic Cat x Lou Lou Louise) bred by Barwick/Galyean and now owned by Ironrock Ranch LLC, was good enough for 2nd place, picking up a check for $3,750. Congrats to all the finalists tonight!!
