The majority of the animals in our shelter right now are dogs surrendered by their owners. The heartbreaking look in their eyes when the gate is closed, and the only person they have ever known walks away from them haunts us all. They just don’t understand and honestly…neither do we. Moving, allergies, change of lifestyle are just some of the reasons we hear. We can’t always recall the excuse someone gave for giving up on their pet, but the defeated look these furbabies give when they realize they will never see their owner again, that look is seared into our memory and haunts us every night.
