❄Winter Weather Update❄
As of 12:00 PM Wednesday, February 2nd the following closures are expected:
Schools – Closed Thursday and Friday
County – Closed Thursday, Friday will be evaluated
City – No solid decision, but both Thursday and Friday closures are likely.
Be sure to follow the GISD and the City for any updates on their closures.

Wednesday
The Winter Storm is expected to begin at 6 PM, with temperatures in the 40’s. We’re looking at rain mainly after 3PM, temperatures falling to around 38 by 5 PM with North winds around 15 Mph, with gusts as high as 25 Mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%, between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.
Come nightfall, rain and freezing rain is expected, possibly mixing with sleet before 11 PM, followed by sleet and a chance of a mix with freezing rain. Low temperatures will be around 16, with North winds between 15 to 25 MPH with gusts as high as 25 MPH. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation totals between .1 to .2 inches possible, with sleet accumulations between 1 to 2 inches. Windchill predicted to be between 0 and 2 degrees.
Thursday:
Snow and sleet before 3 PM, then a chance of snow. Temperatures are expected to fall to around 21 degrees by 10 AM. Windchill values will be between 5 and 12 degrees with a north wind of 20 MPH and gusts up to 25 MPH. Chance of precipitation is 80%, new snow and sleet accumulation between 1 to 2 inches.
As evening rolls around it will be mostly cloudy with a low around 14, with windchill between 2 and 8 degrees with North-Northwest winds of 15 MPH with 25 MPH gusts. New sleet accumulation on top of 1 to 2 inches.
Friday and beyond
By Friday the moisture has left the area, a sunny day is expected with a high near 33, with the evening clocking in with a low of 11 degrees.
Saturday will be sunny with a high near 42, with winds dying down to 5 to 10 MPH, and a low of 16 degrees in the evening.
