I've had a lot of people asking for prices, but seem shocked when I tell them the estimate. So first off...I don't build junk. I refuse to. I am building enclosures that are safe and will last. I'm not using 1/8" thin plastic and plexiglass. I use 3/4" wood or melamine because it insulates really well, which helps maintain temp and humidity, and holds up for a long time. It runs $30-$40/sheet. Larger enclosures can take 4-6 sheets! I seal wood with rubber or epoxy instead of polyurethane because it doesn't need to be redone every year. It costs 2-4 times as much. Brushes can't be reused after. I use aluminum track for sliders instead of plastic. I use 1/4" plexiglass or glass instead of 1/8". Everything I use is animal safe. I use animal safe epoxy from two of the best companies in the world. It runs nearly $80/gallon before shipping. All these little things add up. Plus air vents, glue, silicone, screws, bits, gloves, saw blades, gas to pick up materials...it all adds into the price. So if someone if quoting half or 1/4 of the price I am giving you...ask yourself why! Do you really want to put your $800 retic in a $200 enclosure?

Has a small scratch on the plexi I didn't notice until I had it in. I discounted it a bit for that. I can possibly meet or deliver on Saturday.

A few things about ordering custom enclosures:

The materials for these are the most expensive part. It's not so much the labor. Plexiglass is the most expensive part, so the bigger the enclosure, the bigger the glass, the higher the price!

I can build very simple enclosures which cost less, or fully loaded ones that cost more. Things like tile floors, heated floors, and lighting are all optional. I try and have something for every budget.

I am able to do heat tape under the tile for enclosures that need floor heat. I can do LED lighting, T5 or T8 ballasts inside enclosures, and porcelain outlets for heat lamps. If you want something else, just ask! I can also do waterfalls and foggers.

Backgrounds are more labor intensive. The materials can be fairly inexpensive (grout) or fairly expensive (epoxy). They both have their pros and cons. Some types of rocks, such as sandstone, take a lot more time to make that a rock wall. I can make backgrounds that stay in, or ones that are removable.

Enclosures fully built from scratch are typically more expensive than refurbishing an old piece of furniture into an enclosure.

The main materials (plywood, Melamine, and PVC) come in 4x8 sheets, so even number enclosures are usually a bit cheaper because they fit onto the sheets better and have less waste!

I can build enclosures that are stackable, or build them on top of each other that are stacked, but do not unstack.

10/14/2019

This enclosure is 99% done and turned out awesome! Thermostat heated floor, grout over concrete background, LED lights.
