This is just a friendly reminder that on Saturdays, we are appointment only for wellness exams/vaccines and for our established clients. We have continued to remain open on Saturdays for convenience for our current clients.

Walk ins and new clients are generally referred to the emergency clinics as we are only open til noon and about to close for the weekend. For critically ill or injured pets, we will refer to the emergency clinics for extended care for the weekend as they are fully equipped to handle all emergencies.

So please call ahead because we are also sometimes closed on Saturdays. And understand that if we refer you, we are doing what's best for your pet to ensure they get the full attention and care they need. If your pet is sick, do not wait all week and expect to be seen at a general practice that you've never been to, call before so you can be fully informed and know what to expect.

We only have one doctor in our practice and we also do farm calls so we function most efficiently by scheduling appointments so we can properly allot time for each patient so be mindful that just showing up somewhere is not always the best option. Find a local veterinarian and establish a relationship with them before an emergency so you can be prepared for you and your pet. ❤️

Each day, veterinary professionals work tirelessly to save the lives of their patients, no matter the hurdle or obstacle that may stand in their way. Between managing and dealing with clients, being advocates for their patients, and completing a variety of day-to-day tasks, these workers deserve more recognition and support than they are often given. Though every day should be International Day of Veterinary Medicine, here are 3 reasons to extend appreciation to these hardworking individuals. ⬇⬇

1️⃣ Animal health is linked to human health.
Several medicinal advancements within the veterinary realm have also helped improve human healthcare and treatment such as vaccines, organ transplants, and the robust therapeutic abilities many companion animals innately have.

2️⃣ Animal diseases are connected to human diseases.
Adopting a One Health approach is key to preventing and controlling a variety of zoonotic and vector borne diseases that impact both animals and humans alike. Diseases such as Ebola, Zika, and SARS all have animal origins, stressing the importance of keeping a vigilant eye on the welfare and health of animals to ensure a healthy human population.

3️⃣ Veterinary professionals deserve appreciation.
Even with the defined connection to human health, animal health doctors and professionals are not seen or treated as equals to human medical practitioners. It is time to shatter this notion and recognize the vital role veterinary professionals play within the entire healthcare field.

We love a good series as much as the next person—especially one as dramatic as Yellowstone! But let’s set the record straight about one scene that made us yell “NEIGH-way!” at the screen.

In a recent episode, a horse was given an injection of Banamine (a common anti-inflammatory drug) *in the muscle*. While it might look cool and cowboy-chic on TV, here’s the deal: 🆃🅷🅸🆂 🅸🆂 🅳🅰🅽🅶🅴🆁🅾🆄🆂🅻🆈 🅸🅽🅲🅾🆁🆁🅴🅲🆃 in real life and could land your horse in serious trouble.
What’s the Problem?
Banamine (flunixin meglumine) is a fantastic drug for reducing pain and helping colics *when used correctly*. But when injected into muscle, it can cause clostridial myositis—a rare but life-threatening infection that produces gas in the muscle tissue. This can happen fast, turning what seemed like a harmless injection into a serious emergency.
The TV Drama vs. Real-Life Care
We get it. TV needs action, and waiting for a vet to explain safe medication practices isn’t exactly prime-time material. But in the real world, Banamine should be given orally or as an intravenous (IV) injection—and the IV option is best left to a trained professional (like your friendly neighborhood veterinarian 👋).
The Takeaway
Hollywood may make ranch life look glamorous, but don’t take veterinary advice from fictional cowboys. Always consult your vet before giving any medication, and remember: the health of your animals isn’t worth risking for a shortcut that’s TV-only accurate.
💡 Got questions about horse care? Drop us a message, and we’ll gallop to your rescue (without the TV drama)! 🐎✨

Introducing something new!

If you’ve been in the clinic the last couple of days, you might have noticed a little corner of AJ’s Creations in our lobby. AJ’s Creations is a small business our office manager runs. We’ll be having several of their items on display to sell all year long. We currently have some keychains in stock but will have Stanley Cup charms and earrings in stock next week! These would make the perfect stocking stuffers, so when you’re in the clinic, please take a look!
