As many of you know, there have been quite a bit of cases of Respiratory Infections that have been occurring in our area. Many of them have turned into chronic cough cases. Unfortunately, we have seen mixed results in our treatment plans which has been frustrating for our patients and ourselves. I wish I could say we had answers about the exact cause of this condition but we do not at this point.

Below is a link to our most up-to-date information about this situation. If anyone has questions about this, please reach out and we will help where we can.

The Oregon Department of Agriculture has received more than 200 case reports from veterinarians of a mysterious canine infectious respiratory disease since the middle of August.

It’s a bittersweet day as we say goodbye to Alex, our incredible veterinary assistant who is heading off to Iowa State University to pursue her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree! 👋👩‍⚕️

Since joining our team last fall, Alex has brought her great work ethic and sense of humor (see the photo of her and Darin comparing their heights 😆) to our team. We're going to miss her uplifting attitude and commitment to our patients, but we cannot wait to call her Dr. Alex someday! 🙌

Best of luck to you, Alex – we know you’re going to do great things!

Is your dog coughing suddenly? We're seeing an upper respiratory outbreak sometimes called "kennel cough" in many of our canine patients. Usually they are healthy in every way except a persistent cough that should subside in 7 - 10 days. To help slow the spread of this very contagious illness, we highly recommend you keep your dogs at home and away from other dogs (including at daycare and overnight facilities) if they're showing symptoms.

Reasons to have your dog seen for coughing:
• Persistent cough for more than 10 days
• Refusing food/water
• Vomiting
• Green-yellow eye/nose discharge
• Low energy
• Fever

Fireworks and other Independence Day festivities are a blast for us, but not so much for many pets. As we head into the 4th of July weekend, here are some tips to help keep your pet safe.

According to statistics, animal control officials across the country see a 30–60% increase in lost pets each year between July fourth and sixth. In fact, July fifth is traditionally one of the busiest days of the year for animal shelters.

Our team is doing everything we can to keep the stress as low as possible for your pets. To help us facilitate a calm atmosphere for every pet, we ask you to do the following upon your arrival:

🚗 Instead of waiting in the lobby (a major stressor for many animals), please wait in your vehicle with your pet.
📱 Call 701-757-3500 or text 701-291-4074 to let us know you're here.
👋 If you cannot reach us that way, simply leave your pet in the vehicle, and come in to let us know you're here.
👨‍⚕️ As soon as an exam room is clean and available, we will direct you to bring your pet into the clinic. At this time we are allowing 1 - 2 people in the exam room.

We appreciate your understanding and collaboration!
