Check out this fun December workshop for shed hunting. Nope it isn't a scaled down version of barn hunting. 😊 Shed hunting is searching for deer antlers. You can enjoy it as a hobby and teach your dog to bring them to you when hiking, or you can consider the sport of shed hunting as a competitive hobby with your dog.
There are openings for working teams for both Novice dogs and Advanced dogs. Those participating will get to see the shed hunt champion dog Buzz search for antlers planted by you! It is amazing to watch!

When Harry Met Sally is a must see movie. Some consider it a classic romcom. Well this is a classic too. Introducing standard poodle When Harry Met Mary. He graduated from puppy STAR class on Wednesday. Harry started out in small breed class because he was small. He grew fast. Now he is all graduated and big. Congratulations Harry! 🐾🐕⭐

Congratulations to Laurie and Stormy the Great Pyrenees on the accomplishment of an AKC Rally Championship. The road to a RACH is long and difficult. It takes at least 20 trials and 60 entries and that is after the dog has gotten to the level to begin the journey. Stormy did it with style with their last score being a perfect 100!! What an amazing accomplishment with a non traditional obedience breed. Stormy is only the third Great Pyr to achieve this.
She is now a dual champion since she is also a conformation champion. Good girl!!! 🐾❤️

Puppy STAR class can teach your puppy to be smart and goofy like Spy! 😊❤️🐾
The last week for starting puppy STAR classes for 2024 will be the last full week in October. So you have this week or next week to get signed up for this year.
Large breed puppies (Goldens, Labs etc) meet either Tuesday or Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm. Small breed puppies (Corgi, Cavalier, Havanese, mini Doodles etc) meet Wednesday nights at 6 pm. Cost is $120. for six classes. You puppy must have completed core vaccines and be between 14 weeks and under six months of age to start. Small breed class puppies can be a little older.

Join us for a Try It Day - October 12, 2024 from 10am - 2pm at Solid Gold Dog Training 11887 Lincoln St, Grand Haven, MI

Come try out Agility, Scent Work, Rally Obedience, and Shed Hunt with West Michigan Dog Sports and Solid Gold Dog Training! This is a great chance to see if you and your dog may enjoy dog sports without committing to a training class or purchasing any equipment. For those who are already experienced, it's a great opportunity to get in some training practice in a new setting!

The weather looks like it's going to be great! But just in case of inclement weather, please check the WMDS page on Oct 12th. If weather forces us to postpone, we will post by 9am. Rain date is the following day, Oct 13th.

Try-It Runs are $10 each or 3/$25 and designed for those who are totally new to the sport. Experienced volunteers will guide you through the basics so you can see what it's all about.

Fun Runs are $5 each and designed for those who already know the sport and don't need an instructors help, they just want a little practice or to have some fun.

All sports will be running concurrently and do not require any sort of pre-registration with the exception of Shed Hunt. Just show up and have fun! Shed Hunt will have demos at 11am, noon, and 1pm and practice runs from 10-11am or 1-2pm. To pre-register, please email Laurie Witucki at [email protected] and indicate if you would prefer a morning or afternoon slot. Practice runs are for those who are already experienced in the sport.

Congratulations to Lola! She is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and she graduated this week from large breed puppy class. She started in small breed and kind of out grew it. She is smart and adorable! ⭐🐾
