Providing your dog with basic obedience training will greatly improve your dogs behavior and your relationship with your dog. Taking your dog through a training class also offers your dog baseline socialization which is just as important as the training. Often times a dog that is labeled as 'aggressive' starts as an under-socialized dog.
It's always best to start training and socialization early while they are young, but it's definitely never too late to start!
We are very fortunate to have some great training programs here in our area that all offer great education for you and your pup!

Especially as we transition into a different type of extreme temps, please make sure your outdoor pets are safe from the elements with proper access to food and water. It is also important to ensure the animals water does not freeze over or tip frequently.
If you have questions about your outdoor set up, don't hesitate to reach out!

A day in our life can be very hectic! We care about you and your pets, and want to ensure the safety of you and of them in our community!
The graphic below shows the types of calls we typically respond to day by day. We tend to become very busy, and always do our best to respond to your calls/concerns as fast as we can. Some calls (like bite cases) can take longer than others which may cause a delay in responding to your concern. We promise each call that comes in, is equally important to us.
Thank you for your support and help to keep Hall County safe for all of its residents...4-legged included!

Time for an Animal Control Tip of the Day!

As you ensure your pet has up to date ID/Tags, consider also getting them microchipped.
A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and it is inserted (via injection very similar to how vaccinations are administered) under the skin in-between the animals shoulder blades.

Once you register that microchip (or if you have them chipped at CNHS it will auto register), all of your information is attached to your pet. If your pet is found by Animal Control or a member of the public, any vet clinic or shelter can scan your animal for a chip with a small handheld device. Once a chip is located, the device will 'beep' and display a long number. When that number is entered into our system (or into the system of the company that issues the chip) all of the contact information you provided will be displayed/given.

This greatly reduces the risk of theft of an animal, and helps ensure they do not have to spend unnecessary nights in a kennel or a strangers home.

You can get your dogs chipped at any vet clinic, or at CNHS any time during business hours!

Thank you for doing your part to keep your pet safe!

We are preparing to issue the 2025 city license's in the next month or so.
What a better way to introduce this weeks "Code of the Week"!

Ensuring your pet is up to date on their rabies vaccination makes getting a license super easy!

ID Tags are crucial in helping the community and Animal Control reunite you with your missing pet.
Even if your pet is picked up by Animal Control, they are much more likely to bring it home to you, instead of taking it to the shelter which saves you from paying a reclaim fee and saves your animal from unnecessary stress and exposure to other strays.

If you have a pet that struggles to keep tags on their collars, here are a couple of great alternatives!

UPDATE: Animal Control, GIPD, and NE Game and Parks collaborated on this call to try to find a resolution that would keep the community and the animal safe. Unfortunately, after multiple failed attempts to catch/trap the animal and remove it from the area, the decision was made to humanely dispatch the coyote in the interest of community safety. There were no pups or den located in the area, and the animal did not exhibit signs of having recently given birth or nursing pups.

We have received multiple calls in regards to a coyote in the area of Johnson Place and Eisenhower Drive.
We have Animal Control and GIPD responding to the area now, but if you are in this area PLEASE use caution and do not leave animals or children unattended outside. The coyote is displaying unusual behavior and appears to be sick.
If you see the coyote in areas outside of streets stated above, please call CNHS immediately at 308-385-5305 or GIEC at 308-384-9380.
