Laneys Intermediate Day 1 Run
Sandhills Edge Cattle Dog Trial.
Chex’s First Cattle Dog Trial
So proud of this pup. He is not the biggest bitter and these cattle need a push here and there. This dog # # can be in the right spot at the right time though. This video is from the second day. The first day we finished the course with a couple seconds to spare. The second day we got caught up on the sort. Still so happy with our runs.
How Laney feels about trialing this last weekend. We took first in intermediate both days. It was her first time placing that high. We still have a lot to work on and some good conversations with great handlers has given me some ideas on what we need to work on next.
Chex putting sheep out to the pasture
Practiced catching and sorting with Chex. Would have liked to work Cash but he is out of commission with a foot injury.
Bodhi Update
I got this amazing update from Bodhi’s new owner. It was so great to see him in action doing the work he loves. A wonderful dog who is fair on stock but bites clean and low when needed. I feel so lucky that we found him the perfect match. I love the updates I continually get❤️
SOLD
1.5 year old grade Border Collie. Male, intact. 50 lbs. red tri.
Great temperament and loads up well. Has some nice natural style. Not a big biter but will try with some continued encouragement. Easy to handle and has a good down. Will be right by your side when not at work.
Knows his flanks, walk up, down, steady, inside flanks, and have been driving as well.
Will work sheep and goats. Can work cattle but nothing that is trying to eat a dog. Will help with the ducks but is not overly interested in them.
Pm with questions, check comments for additional pictures and video.
Chex
Check out Chex! He really changes gears when asked to steady.
Laney
Been using her to move the sheep out to the pastures during the day. She has been looking better each day. She is a dog that needs worked every day and I have been slacking since having my baby. Hoping to start back trialing her soon.
Chex
Some cattle practice with our boy Chex. His confidence is growing. I think he handled the head pressure. I am big on treating the stock with respect and I like to see calm stock at this point in a dog’s training. Chex did not disappoint.
Laney working bulls
Put the sheep out today and thought I should send Laney out to move the bulls a bit. She is still gaining confidence on these big guys. They respect her pretty well, had a couple run ins with here before, and they believe her, she bites.
Had a bit of trouble with the look back but she figured it out.
Chex out on sheep
Little work on sheep tonight after a few months off.
