The last (but not least) Toxic Tuesday fact! A lot of the time, we place rodenticide’s to repel any furry critters from certain places in the house, garage, or shed, and don’t think twice about it…until we notice our cat or dog sniffed it out, and decided it would be a good snack!

Parvo season is here. Unfortunately, we have already treated a number of parvo cases at Animal ER of the Western Slope . We want your puppy to stay safe & healthy, so here are some important things to remember:
• puppies need 3 rounds of vaccines from a veterinarian to be considered fully vaccinated
• don’t take your new puppy to public places until they are fully vaccinated
• call a vet immediately if you notice any of the symptoms in your puppy

While prevention is key, give the Animal ER a call if your puppy exhibits any symptoms of parvo. With a new dedicated isolation suite, your puppy will receive the very best care while we help them fight this disease.

Todays Rehab Spotlight is Alan Morrison! Alan is a 5 year old Chihuahua mix, that started coming to us in July of this year after suffering a serious spinal cord injury, and was referred to by a fellow veterinarian! Here is what Alan’s mom shared about Alan’s journey so far: “When my sweet little Alan developed a serious spinal cord injury 1.5 yrs ago, I was just so grateful he survived. He lost almost all function in his left hind leg, which the neurologists said was permanent. He adapted well to tripod life and certainly didn't mind being carried more than usual! When the VCA vets recommended Dr. Wendy, I was so excited to get a 2nd opinion. After just 4 weeks of PT, Alan is definitely showing improvement! His leg is getting stronger, he's using it more, and he doesn't tire as quickly on our hikes. The biggest change I've seen, though, is his confidence. Seeing Alan frolic and interact with other dogs without fear again has made my heart so happy! I am so grateful to Dr. Wendy and Kenna for believing in my sweet boy! I'm always impressed with their kind and patient demeanors as much as their creative and innovative treatments.
