Geary, the constipated kitty we took in to the vet last week is back home, but he still has a $440 balance at Family Paws. His total bill came to $990. He was really sick, was under anesthesia for almost two hours, was in a lot of pain, his poor colon stretched to the max from 4 weeks of constipation. He was at the vet for nearly a week.

He will need three meds daily for the rest of his life.

I hope it will keep him healthy. We helped this poor kitty in November when he was in the ER and last week and most likely we will not be able to assist financially a third time. So I am really hoping the meds work and his owner is easily able to administer them.

If you’d like to help with Geary’s balance, it would be greatly appreciated. Family Paws is taking donations for him at 586-837-2278

Thank you ❤️

Those not actively participating in rescue or TNR criticize everyone promoting cats living outside. They must not understand feral cats or know that hundreds of thousands cats are euthanized in the US every year. Unless you're part of our village trying to reduce those numbers, please don't criticize. 😽

As March is National Pet Poison Prevention Awareness Month, it’s a good time to remind pet owners of the dangers of popular household plants and flowers—especially those that could make your pets extremely sick. Spoiler alert: Every part of lilies is very, very toxic for your cats. Please keep them away from your kitties.

Check out our blog post at https://loveyourferalfelines.com/toxicplantsandflowers for more on common houseplants and cut flowers that could harm your furry friends.

Colorado has detected Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI H5N1) in 11 domestic cats, including both indoor-only and indoor-outdoor cats, with only one of these cats surviving the infection.

Cats appear to be highly susceptible to avian influenza and infections often result in death. Cases in Colorado cats have been linked to both raw pet food and raw poultry consumption.

To mitigate HPAI exposure to your companion animals, CDA and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recommend against feeding raw poultry products to domestic cats. Additionally, we recommend extra precautions when handling raw pet food or raw poultry, such as thoroughly washing hands and disinfecting surfaces.

For more information about , go to ag.colorado.gov/hpai or learn more about the FDA recalls at https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/savage-pet-recalls-savage-cat-food-chicken-large-and-small-boxes-because-possible-bird-flu-health

Educate your family, friends, and neighbors about the importance of spaying and neutering all cats (pets, strays, & ferals).

Fixing and vaccinating unowned community cats through the process of trap/neuter/return (TNR) ends the suffering these unowned cats face and puts a stop to the endless number of kittens born outside who unfortunately suffer the most.
