As we are closing up on the month of October, do not forget that it is still National Pet Wellness Month!🥰 The best gift you can give your animal is by bringing them into the vet for a wellness exam. Being able to catch the ‘small’ issues before they become the ‘big’ issues can give your pets many more years to come. 🧐

Give us a call, shoot us a text, or send us an email and we will get you and your pet in as soon as we can.😎

We agree there's nothing cuter than dogs and cats posing in their different ‘howl-o-ween’ costumes. 😍Looking all cute and adorable posing for the camera. But, as you are eagerly trying to find your pet’s costume for our contest next week, it is important to follow a few tips to keep your pet safe and comfortable. 👻📢

Changing of the seasons means your pets may have seasonal care demands that you may not be aware or have thought of yet. But do not fret, as we are here to help! 🍂

Seasons changing means that often our dogs and cats have started to shed their summer coat and are preparing to grow in their winter coat. You may notice lots more hair than usual lying around or your pet’s coat starting too unusually mat. At this time, it is important to frequently brush your animal so dead hairs can be removed for new ones to grow in. And, if brushing isn’t your forte then getting them into the groomer can save you some time!🪮

With the cooler temperatures coming, it is important to remember that our pets, whether they are long haired or short haired, have different thresholds for colder weather. When you are taking your pets outside for walks or letting them go quickly outside to do their business, be aware if they seem cold or not wanting to do their usual things. Nobody likes to be freezing cold, so take care of your pets!🥶

Finally, like us people with different seasons different environmental allergies may arise. Some plants and grasses may be starting to die off while others are in their bloom. If you start to notice your dog and/or cat scratching, itching, or licking their body more than usual then they may have an environmental allergy. Getting your pet into the vet can give them relief and save them from secondary infections arising. 😣

As we are about halfway into the week celebrating our vet techs, and we wanted to share with you all the different roles and responsibilities vet techs have in their day-to-day jobs!

We created a fun image just to show how much responsibility our technicians have every single day. Thank you technicians for all the dedication and hard work!

If you ask veterinary technicians about their job, many will say that it is very difficult but highly rewarding. This is because vet techs play a crucial role in day-to-day activities inside a clinic. Essentially their job is to help improve the health and welfare of many different animals in different cases. 💙

Every October there is a designated week to acknowledge, celebrate, and thank veterinary technicians for all they do. They are essential members of the team and are often on the front lines dealing closely with both clients and patients alike. 🥳

This week if you happen to come into our clinic, please tell our technicians thank you for all they do! We truly would not be able to do high quality care without them. A simple thank you, high five, or heck even a hug goes a long way for our staff members. AND for those who won’t make it in, then share some celebratory words below. We will make sure to share your kind words! 🫶

Whether you are wanting to celebrate Catober😺 or Dogtober🐶 heck maybe even both, there are numerous different activities you can do to keep your pet happy and healthy. 🫵

For starters, making sure your dogs’ and cats’ health is good by bringing them into the vet is key. Yearly physical exams with annual bloodwork will stay ahead of any potential diseases that may be lurking in the shadows. Being proactive instead of reactive can potentially give you more years with your furry friends.

Second, you can interact more with your pets and get them to do some physical activity. Whether they like playing with their toys, going on walks, or simply exploring the outdoors, keeping them fit and in good shape will allow your pet’s to be in the best condition possible.

Finally, making sure your pets are fed good quality food with minimal treats and people food added in their diet. Just like for us, eating low quality junk food doesn't make us feel the best we can be, so we shouldn’t be doing the same to our animals! There are numerous different good quality food and treats that are acceptable for your pets. If you ever have any questions, please give us a call so we can help you pick the most suitable diet for your pet.

We hope you enjoy getting to spend this beautiful month of October with all your furry friends!

In today’s world, pet obesity is an ever-growing concern. Obesity occurs when there is an excess in body fat causing an increase in a pet’s overall weight. It is estimated that in the United States, 60% of cats and 56% of dogs are obese. This is very alarming as that means more than half of dogs and cats are at risk for a shortened lifespan and other chronic conditions. 😿

Because obesity causes chronic inflammation throughout the body, this can predispose pets to other diseases like diabetes, cancer, heart disease, osteoarthritis, hypertension, and more. Having to deal with obesity for an animal is already hard enough let alone fighting other conditions that are preventable at the same time. 💪

Now, you may be wondering if your pet is overweight and possibly fits into either of these categories. The best way to determine this is by getting your pet in for an overall exam and discuss it with your veterinarian. If they do end up on the scale of being overweight, do not panic. A treatment plan made specifically for your pet can be made. 🖋

Losing weight for people and animals alike is not something that just “happens overnight”. It is difficult and a long-term thing but will allow you to have more years with your pain free pets.💙
