Fat Cat Pottery is a "paint your own pottery" , hand building, and wheel throwing studio. We are located in downtown Grand Art and Fun for Everyone! WE SHIP!

Just pick out a piece of unfinished pottery, paint yourself silly, and then leave it with us to fire it. Come back in a week and pick up your masterpiece! Did we mention it's FUN! We also have wet clay. Take a piece of mud and build something from scratch. We have classes for the clay inexperienced and offer walk-in clay for anyone who is just ready to go for it! Clay pieces require a two week firing time. From out of town? We gotcha' covered! Come on in!

Our Story

Hi everyone! Want to know a little bit more about Fat Cat? We are a family owned business. If you’ve been in you’ve met at least one of the owners since there is always one of us in the building. Marcia has a pile of degrees in things like Architecture. She worked in a hospital most of her life until moving to the western slope and starting work at Fat Cat back in 2007.

Jo (me) has been with working with Marcia at Fat Cat since 2009 after flopping about a bit trying to figure out what to do for a life plan. As it turns out, Fat Cat has been a pretty big part of that. We bought the store in 2012 from the original owner and haven’t looked back since.

2016 was a big year for Fat Cat. In April, we picked up the whole studio and moved it from Delta to downtown Grand Junction. Then, three weeks later, we became official family when Marcia’s son married Jo. We love our downtown community and Grand Junction and couldn’t be happier with the current evolution of our beloved Fat Cat. We hope you visit the studio and enjoy it as much as we do because that’s the whole point. We want to cultivate an environment where people are comfortable creating and where we can help you along the way.
