NANA-N-PAWS IS NOW HIRING! Nana-n-Paws Doggie Daycare, Training, Grooming and Sleepover Center in Grand Ledge is losing some team members and availability due to several returning to school. So, we are hiring for all shifts (except for the overnight shift). We are now hiring candidates 17 and older with reliable transportation. Must be flexible, dependable, punctual, available to work holidays and some weekends and be available to work more than 20 hours a week. Most importantly, you MUST LOVE dogs, be physically and mentally able to and comfortable handling large powerful breeds and comfortable in large groups of dogs. This is a physically demanding job.
Candidates will be required to pass a thorough background check and a drug test for illegal narcotics. Advancement opportunities available. Starting wage is between $14-$15/hr, depending on the shift and level of experience, with a raise after your 60 day training period, another raise at 6 months and then regular raises thereafter. Benefits include being able to bring your dog to work with you for free daycare, and you will receive discounts on sleepovers and in our retail store and veterinary clinic.

MONDAY:
5:00 PM Sensible Training for Everyday and Beyond
Take the mystery and frustration out of dog training with a commonsense approach to modifying your pup’s behaviors. In this class we will use balanced methods to teach you and your dog the skills needed to build a solid, focused relationship (skip 10/14) $150
6:30 Beginner Puppy (with S.T.A.R.™ Puppy)
Got a new pup? Come join this class to learn all about appropriate socialization, basic skills and what it takes to successfully raise a happy, well-adjusted pup. We will introduce basic manners and talk about common puppy concerns like biting, jumping, crate training and housebreaking. Puppies must have age-appropriate vaccines. Buckle, quick release or martingale collar with a 6-foot leash. No harnesses, e-collars or prong collars. Puppies and handlers attending all 6 sessions can achieve the S.T.A.R. puppy title on the last week of class. This class is for puppies under 1 year of age. (skip 10/14) $150
TUESDAY:
6:00 PM Intro to Agility
Does your dog have what it takes to become the next agility superstar? This class is for beginners to see what agility is all about. In addition to learning how to safely navigate a variety of obstacles, dogs will also learn fun skills that will help them in their agility careers. The use of treats and toys is expected and encouraged in this class $150
7:30 PM Advanced Skills and Drills (agility)
Develop teamwork with your dog while mastering various handling techniques and other useful agility skills. This class will be a combination of small course drills and full course sequences designed to help you better communicate as a team, both on and off the agility field. The use of treats and toys is expected and encouraged. Dogs must be able to perform all obstacles independently. Must be actively competing or have instructor approval. Class is drop-in style with a purchased punch card. Punch card $150
FRIDAY:

**If you are new to Nana N Paws you must first register on our Gingr app (invite code 696512) and provide proof of bordetella, distemper/parvo and rabies prior to enrolling in a class. Our classes do fill; therefore, we cannot save space. Payment is due at registration.

"Death follows minutes to hours after exposure to a small amount of this toxin." As the weather gets hotter, ponds can start to have "algae blooms." The water itself can look like pea soup, or like green paint is spread on the surface of the water. Sometimes it is not visible at all. Some of these blooms are cyanobacteria, which can produce potent toxins. Dogs are exposed when they wade in the water and either drink the water directly, or lick it off themselves when they come out. There is no antidote; treatment is supportive and many dogs don't survive. If you believe your dog has been exposed, bathe him immediately. If he has any symptoms, bring him right in to a veterinarian. See comments for more information about signs and treatment. (Most ponds that look like this are not dangerous, but it is not possible to tell which ones are toxic and which ones aren't except by having the water tested; If in doubt, keep pets out.) IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING CARE CREDIT: I know that a lot of people use and recommend Care Credit for veterinary bills. I know that it is often literally a life saver and often the only option. I use it myself. So, I want to share with you all the recent increase in their interest rate. I know it’s not easy, but I STRONGLY suggest that all pet owners either have a credit card just for such emergencies or try to have some emergency funds set aside, because you never know when you may need it. If you do use Care Credit, do everything in your power to pay it off in full before the interest free period is over. I just don’t think people realize how high the interest rate has become.
As of May 30, 2024, the annual percentage rate (APR) for new CareCredit accounts is 32.99%, with a minimum interest charge of $2. However, CareCredit also offers short-term financing options with no interest for 6, 12, 18, or 24 months on purchases of $200 or more. If the balance isn't paid in full by the end of the promotional period, interest will be charged on the entire original amount borrowed, not just the remaining balance. CareCredit may also apply a penalty APR of 39.99% if the total minimum payment isn't received by the due date two or more times during a 12-month billing cycle.
As most of you know, we have a tornado warning for Eaton, Ingham and Clinton Counties. We have a lot of dogs here at Nana-n-Paws, and I want to assure all of our pet parents that we are following our tornado safety protocol right now. All dogs are secured inside encloses with tops on them in the center of the building away from exterior walls. We will protect them like we do our own.

Just a few days after celebrating her first birthday with us, unfortunately, sweet Nola suffered a terrible accident and was hit by a train. She survived, but lost a leg and her tail. Her mom has set up a GoFundMe page that we are sharing here for anyone that might like to donate. Please pray for a full recovery for sweet Nola. Her life has just begun.

NANA-N-PAWS IS NOW HIRING FOR THE OVERNIGHT POSITION consisting of 3-4 ten hour shifts each week from 9pm-7am. This is primarily a cleaning shift, as our overnight guests are sleeping, but still need to be monitored around the clock. Starting wage is $17/hr with a raise after completing training and then annually.
Cleaning consists of sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, doing laundry, running the floor machine, disinfecting play areas, toddler beds, cots, climbing structures and spraying disinfectant in the play yards and the lawn around the front entrance. The overnight person also bathes any guests who have been here for an extended stay the night before they go home.
The ideal candidate must love dogs, be comfortable with all breeds of dogs, have your own reliable transportation and be VERY dependable. Reminder: This is a working shift (cleaning) and is a physically demanding job.
You will be trained in understanding canine body language, non-verbal communication, breed specific behaviors, safe dog handling, health and safety protocols, calmly dealing with difficult, fearful and/or timid dogs, etc.
BENEFITS INCLUDE: Employees can bring their own dogs to work with them, free of charge, and receive discounts on all services at the daycare as well as at the adjacent veterinary clinic and in pur retail store.
