With summer festivities kicking off, we want to remind you about the symptoms of heatstroke and prevention tips:

-Never leave your pet unattended in a car
-When hot/humid, keep your pet’s time outdoors limited ​
-Keep your pet hydrated​
-Ensure your pet has ventilation and a cool environment​
-Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves​
-If any signs of heat stroke appear, contact our team immediately. ​

We hope this post finds everyone safe. An update for todays business hours: Our DVM is experiencing severe weather delays and is placed in shelter in place. We expect appointments to be seen from 12-4pm once it is safe for her to drive, if this changes we will update here and call those appointments, if you have boarders please pick up no later than 4pm.

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.

Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.
