💡✈️ We got to experience something very cool this week! Our TSA contact at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport generously gave us a tour of the new sensory room inside the airport! This sensory room has quiet, relaxation rooms in addition to a room set up to look exactly like the inside of an airplane. We were able to use this space to practice realistic tucking and spacial awareness with service dog in training, Harper and her handler. The photo attached is inside this room!
We are so thankful for the time that our TSA partners take to meet with us and our clients to practice the process of not only going through security with a service animal, but the entire airport experience.

💛🩷 A Winnie appreciation post! Miss Winnie is about to turn one year old. She and her wonderful handler have been in training with us for the past year to prepare for a life of working as a service dog. Winnie also took our Tricks Drop In class and earned her Novice Trick title!

This is little Bodhi and his new friend, Rex the dummy dog 😆
Bohdi has big feelings about other dogs he sees on walks. We used Rex during our session to work on observing another dog at a distance and loose leash walking past the dog. Like a proper gentleman, Bodhi went right around to Rex’s behind for a sniff hello haha
Really though! Dummy dogs can make for great tools in desensitization with reactive furry friends.

This pretty girl is Veda. She has been one of our most complex cases to date. Veda has severe anxiety, at a level seen in only a very small amount of dogs. This is a photo of Veda actually enjoying herself for one of the first times ever. The right medication combined with systematic desensitization is making life changing differences for this girl. Veda has a long road ahead but our session with her this week was a celebration of how far she’s come! ☺️❤️

I have been debating the past few days on how and what to say here. While I don’t want to bring politics into my workplace and business, I think it is more important than ever to state clearly:

🦮 Beyond Basics 301 (CGC Class):
This is our advanced group obedience class. This class is geared toward dogs with solid foundations who are looking to reduce treat use and expand obedience to pet friendly places. This class is also a Canine Good Citizen prep class where graduation week will provide to opportunity to take the test with your dog.
This class will focus on rounding out obedience with exercises like loose leash walking through a crowd, group down stays, supervised separation, and more.
This class meets once per week for a total of six weeks at the Cascade hospital for Animals

Our next class begins next week:
Monday 11/4 at 7:30pm (3 spots left)

🐕 Puppy Momentum 201:
This is our mid-level class which focuses on impulse control cues and exercises. The ideal candidate for this class is a dog that has some foundational cues already under their belt (sit, down, short stay, etc.)
The cues learned in this class include Touch, Focus, Leave It, Place, Wait for treat, Wait for doorway, Heel, and more! In addition to these cues we will discuss topics like treat reduction, brain games, and outings in public.
This class meets once per week for a total of six weeks at the Cascade hospital for Animals.

Our next classes begin next week:
Monday 11/4/24 at 5:30pm (2 spots left)
Wednesday 11/6/24 at 6:30pm (5 spots left, 2 more dogs needed to run the class)

This class is designed for dogs with little to no formal training. The goal is provide a solid foundation of obedience for dogs of all ages. Topics and exercises in the class include: sit, down, stay, come, loose leash walk, calm greetings, handling skills for grooming and vet, brain games, socialization, and more.
This class meets once per week for a total of six weeks at the Cascade hospital for Animals.
