Wednesday evening we were contacted by some folks who had purchased a home, went in to clean it out, and found a severely neglected alligator along with a deceased snapping turtle. We arrived later that evening and found a three foot alligator in a tiny tank full of ice cold algae filled water. The house had been abandoned for at least a month, possibly longer and the alligator was quite literally frozen. He was extremely lethargic and did not put up the slightest fight when we pulled him out of his tank but thankfully, since then he has warmed up and gotten some spice back to him. He will be here safe and warm with snacks for a few days until he heads over to the east side of the state to some knowledgeable keepers of his species for rehabilitation. Huge thank you to Kate and her crew for taking on this beautiful creature’s rehabilitation and another huge thank you to Colleen for offering to get him there! 🩷🐊

Mr. Alfredo had a procedure yesterday to express some infected glands by his vent. He’s been on antibiotics which helped the redness but they weren’t any match for the build up of dead tissue trapped inside. He was sedated and tons of gunk was able to be removed - be thankful you can’t smell the third picture through the screen! He was VERY sleepy all evening afterwards but today I went to give him a little pet and he wanted to eat my finger for dinner. He had a mouse instead. 😉

Meet Blue! 🩵
She is a female sub adult Argentine tegu that has unfortunately not had proper care prior to arriving here. She’s underweight, dehydrated, weak, and lethargic. She currently weighs just over two pounds and we were told that she wasn’t eating. We were prepared to force feed if needed, but thankfully after we got some heat and UVB going for her she ate and drank all by herself! She’s going in the right direction now that she has what she needs to start feeling better. We will keep you posted on her progress! ☺️

New arrival!
This boa constrictor arrived recently in pretty good health other than being a little underweight. 🐍
This is a juvenile, but did you know that the longest living boa constrictor was over 40 years old? 😱
This species of snake has around 100 teeth with 4 rows on the top with 2 rows on the bottom.
Females give birth to live young and they can have up to 60 babies at a time.
We’re going to put some weight on this little one and then they will be looking for a home. 🩵

Please keep in mind as we approach Christmas that all adoptions need an approved enclosure and application before hand. If you are one of many folks looking to give their children the gift of a pet for Christmas, please start this process early. Adoptions rarely happen same day unless you are 1000% prepared with all of these steps completed. Preparation is key and adopting a reptile is a big commitment!

We want to introduce you to ten new faces around here! 🩷 This group of beautiful reptiles was a collection of family pets that have been extremely loved and spoiled. Life circumstances meant that they needed a new place to stay and were grateful to be that place for the time being. We have a male and a female bearded dragon, a male and a female day gecko, a male and a female sand boa, two female leopard geckos, a Pac-Man frog, and a plated lizard. They will be looking for homes eventually, but for now they will be monitored and spoiled with heat and yummy buggies. 🐜

Miss Lucinda has been here for two months and she’s improving daily! 🫶🏼 Lucinda was with her family for seven years until she ended up getting sick and losing all of her body mass after she stopped eating and became lethargic. When she arrived back in August she was stiff and she didn’t move a muscle other than her eyes for days. She had sunken fat pads and eyes and her beard was black. Those three physical signs in combination almost always means that we are riding the fine line of life and death with a bearded dragon. We thought that we would give her a comfy place to pass with love and warmth but after a lot of work she has beat all the odds and she is gaining more strength every day. After the first month she finished her antibiotics and she was placed with a foster to gain weight. It didn’t end up working out so she’s back here to stay while we pack on the grams and help this gal feel her best. She’s been eating 10+ bugs every day and she climbed up on top of her wooden hide for the first time today. 🥹 Photo of the day she arrived in the comments! 🧡 Video of yummy snacks for dinner!🪳

We want to send a HUGE thank you to Kat for making the 4 hour round trip to pick up this iguana and get him to us. He is in extremely rough shape and we will have more on that later, but for now we are so happy he’s here with food in his belly. 💗
