Welcome to the page of Green Collar Farms. There are many consumer, community and societal benefits of controlled environment agriculture (CEA) which we endeavor to highlight and advance as a sustainable social enterprise. A distinctive feature of GCF is hyper-local access to fresh harvested produce 365 days a year. This means its not prematurely harvested, artificially preserved, manhan
dled, and shipped offseason from a thousand or more miles away... Only then to expire on the shelves within days of delivery or purchase. Growing in a indoors relieves the crops of environmental pressures like volatile climate, pests or disparate field conditions which impact plant health, taste and reliability. Instead, our non-GMO crops are grown soilless, with all the beneficial nutrients and conditions found in the field, but without the amendments runoff, herbicides, or pesticides... They can literally be eaten "fresh off the vine", no washing required, and only uses 10% of the water for traditional farming. Local production and consumption promotes local vitality... Jobs and commercial exchange stay here to help sustain and grow our community. Additionally, there are significant educational opportunities to expose children and adults alike to the benefits of healthy food, the biology of growing it, and the science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) of the indoor agriculture. Thank you for visiting our Green Collar Farm page. I hope you will follow us, comment on what we're doing, share in the journey, and even enjoy some of our produce in a local restaurant, cafeteria or grocery store. Sowing seeds daily... Brian Harris
