As we wrap up Dental Health Month, here is our very own Dr. Happel doing dental work on animals at the zoo! That's right, dental health is extremely important for ALL species - cats and dogs are no exception. So work at brushing your pet's teeth daily, and remember to look for the VOHC seal when purchasing dental health products!

It's VA Appreciation Week!

Do you know what being a Veterinary Assistant means? 🤔

Our entire team, clients and patients depend on this incredible team for a multitude of roles within the clinic. They are the ones who guide you through your appointments, care for your pets after surgery, explain the veterinarians treatment plan, call to check in on you after your visits and so much more! Without them we would be unable to provide the stellar client and patient experience we aim to provide.

To chew or not to chew?...Good Question!

The natural mechanical action of chewing helps delay plaque buildup, but it’s important to know that not all treats are created equal. Using non-flexible objects like bone, hooves, or antlers that have minimal mechanical action, are known to break teeth when chewing pressure is applied. Remember, "If the toy doesn’t give into the pressure of your fingernail being applied, a tooth is likely to break.”

True, tooth fractures can be addressed with various dental procedures depending on severity, but better chewing toy choices can avoid that pain all together. 💙🦷🐶

Phew! Monday was quite Monday-ish to say the least...... 🥴

We'd like to take time this Tuesday morning to thank our clients, friends and families for supporting us on the good and bad days! Our team brings their absolute best daily to ensure everyone who trusts us with their pets gets proper care and attention. Some days that means we are running on empty, so hearing kind words and support really goes a long way!

Dental disease isn’t just about bad breath. It can lead to heart disease, kidney problems, and painful infections that our pets are not able to communicate with us. Regular dental care is key to preventing these issues, and preventing unwanted oral pain. 🦷

Does your senior cat seem stiffer during the winter? Cold weather can make arthritis and joint pain worse for our older patients even if they are strictly indoors. Keep them cozy with warm bedding and encourage light movement to maintain flexibility throughout the colder months! ❄️
