Copied and shared from. MN dogs in danger. I have to say as Animal Care Coordinator fostering 2 bottle kittens with URI's (loosing 4 babies to severe Upper Respiratory Infection/ pneumonia) and Peaches and her puppies, I feel this. For every one we can take in a week we are turning away 20 others. Please be kind, please be patient, please help, and please spay and neuter.

😥Animal Rescue Reality Check😥

With all the compassion fatigue warnings, we would like to remind all rescuers (including ourselves) that it is okay to say no, it’s okay to shut your phone off, it’s okay to to make a bad decision, it’s okay to fall asleep, it’s okay to leave the litter box until morning.

For people needing a rescuer, please make it as easy as possible. Do not ask for a miracle, do not blame if something goes wrong, do not expect your rescuer to do everything for you. Make an effort to help! Offer to help transport, offer to donate money or goods.

Rescuers have a hard time saying no, it eats them alive. They have a heart and mind that won’t stop thinking about a dying animal. An animal they could help if only they had the energy, If only they had the time, if only they had the money, if only someone would help.

Trust us, if you are asking a rescuer for help, that rescuer has at least 10 other people asking along with you in a given day. Along with running to pick up, drop off, go to vet appointments, save lives, bottle feed, deal with feeding, cleaning and medicating and answering messages- we all have families and full time jobs as we here at MSAR are unpaid volunteers.

We may sometimes choose what we do, but rescuers are who we are.

PLEASE BE KIND TO YOUR RESCUER!!

It’s amazing what one week has done for precious little Bear (Harry). He is an extraordinary pup….. Bear is great with dogs, cats, all people, loves to travel, and enjoys soccer games! He’s crate trained, almost fully potty trained, and has learned to sit! Do I sound like a proud foster mom ❤️

Tiki is a 12 plus year old cat.
She has been declawed, fixed and up to date on all vaccines.
Litter box trained and hasn't had any accidents.
She's very affectionate and likes to meow on occasion when she'd like affection.
She likes to lay on your chest and snuggle in but spends alot of her time doing her own thing and laying around the house.
Tiki does well with kids. She snuggles my 8 year old and my 9 month old she will rub on but doesn't stay close for very long. She was fine with the other cat she was brought in with but like any cat will feed off the other cats mood.
She can be picked up but prefers to stay on all fours.
She is not fond of a closed crate, she will meow and cry, but an open crate she will sleep in sometimes.

Gus is a 10+ year old lab mix. He was surrendered after his owner passed away and a neighbor realized he was left in the home alone. They tried finding next of kin but were unable to find any that would take him. As a younger man he had an injury to his back legs and they are bowed now. He is 125lbs and on a diet as a few lbs lost will help with any pain from the injury. He is also on Cosiquin to help with joint pain. He is housetrained and would love a retirement home to spend the rest of his days.

Hello, I'm Gus's foster dad. Gus just had his vet check today, and after a week of gentle exercise, he's down to 117!! Gus is the absolute, most gentle dog, and is even a perfect gentleman with my cat. He actually loves to play and rough house for short periods and he'll even swim a bit. I walk him 3 times a day, and now he can go half a mile, but it's at a very "Gus" pace 😊

Thank you for all the good thoughts/prayers. Peaches had 4 beautiful boys last night. The first one was breach so she had a harder time birthing him. She chewed the second and 3rd one's cord to short so we had to tie the cord to stop the bleeding. The second had also swallowed some fluid so we will be watching him. The 4th boy came out pretty weak but is doing great now.

Prayers, thoughts, good vibes for new foster Peaches and her babies. She wasn't due for 3 weeks and is in full blown labor. She just came into rescue last night.

Good vibes, prayers, thoughts appreciated for these two little girls. Their brothers passed away in the last 24 hours due to an Upper Respiratory Infection that turned into pneumonia. These girls are not out of the woods so please keep them in your thoughts as we work to keep them going.

If anyone has a humidifier that works well they no longer have a use for and would like to donate, these girls would really benefit from it.

We received a call from Bemidji Vet Hospital that four puppies with demodex mange were found on the side of the road and needed placement. Unfortunately one of the puppies was really bad off and due to infection her body couldn't fight, it was decided that euthanasia was in her best interest. BVH staff have been treating and caring for the remaining 3 puppies for the last week trying to find placement. Meet Benny, Fritz, and Harry! They have a bit of a road to full recovery but we are blessed to have some amazing foster homes in our community that have stepped up to take these boys. They will be in care for some time as they heal so if you would like to donate towards veterinary care and supplies we and they would be very appreciative. As always thank you for your support!

Sneek peek. Meet Annie! She is a 2 year old 46lb Australian Shepherd. Unsure on dogs, cats, and kids as she is currently in a bachlor home. She is such a love, but will need an experienced dog owner preferably experienced with herding breeds that can give her plenty of exercise. She is ready for adoption. Her owner has been in and out of jail so they gave her to her current foster home but they live in an apartment and don't feel they can give her what she needs. She is UTD, Fixed, chipped, neg for lymes anaplasmosis heartworm, dewormed, on flea and tick preventive. Her foster home has had her for 3 months and she is a very sweet girl and a velcro dog through and through. She definitely has the aussie energy. Her adoption fee is $300 (plus $20.63 tax) = $320.63

Someone is resting up for their big day at the adoption event today! We are going to bring Destiny with and see if we can't get some socialization in and fingers crossed maybe someone will come along and she will finally find her forever home. She has done so well learning people aren't scary. She is such a gentle giant and loves kids, dogs, and cats. Adults need permission from someone she trusts before she will accept them. Come out to the Central Square Mall in Grand Rapids Mn from 11am to 2pm today for our June Jubilee Adoption Event

Louis Furbottom is a loveable kitten! He loves to sit on your lap and be pet and cuddled. He loves kisses and his tummy rubbed and will rub his cute little face on yours in affection. He is great with other cats and hides from dogs. I have not seen him aggressive with dogs, so I think he'd warm up eventually. He is great with adults and children. Unfortunately Louis has sprayed in the house a few times since being neutered and I am unsure if it will stop in the future. The vet found crystals in his urine so he needs a special urinary food for at least a few months (the crystals are most likely the cause of spraying).

This lady is finally ready for adoption! 🙌👏🙌 Destiny is a 1.5 year old English Mastiff. If you have followed her story she has been through the ringer. House fire, suspected rat poison, birthing 14 pups only to loose 10. We were able to stop the bleeding after two weeks but it only stopped for two weeks and then started again. She was put on antibiotics two weeks ago and was spayed last week as the bleeding had continued. Destiny knows basic commands and is potty trained. She does well with other dogs and cats with proper introductions, she does have a very strong pray drive outside so we are really working her recall and leave it /mine commands. If her person is holding another animal and standing she will try going after the other animal (knocking out of your hands, grabbing out of hands) we will be asking the trainer about this Sunday. She loves to play but doesn't understand her size she is thick as theives with our boxer pit mix. She is a jumper which we are working on but being 116lbs she has a lot of force and can knock down an adult. She is kennel trained and love love loves kids. She is very afraid of strange adults (men in particular) and needs her person to ok them before she calms down. She will not be able to come to an adoption event at this time as it will be to overwhelming. ONE week before Destiny's puppies are 8 WEEKS OLD! Kenji is spoken for he is the big love bug, Ember is the light brindle female (she is a sweetheart), Phoenix is the darker brindle female (she has an alpha, talk back personality), Mirabelle is the little black and white girl (she patiently waits for your attention, and will give a bark now and then if she thinks you took to long). These babies are Mastiff x. The owner had stated pure mastiff, but we can't say for sure without DNA testing (which we don't do). Mom is super sweet at 116lbs she will be ready for adoption once medically cleared. She has had a pretty rough go of it. This sweet girl is still looking for her forever home. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bella but my Daddy calls me Beautiful, my Mommy calls me Stinker- I am sure this has nothing to do with my insatiable appetite for her butter (hehe). I am a Vizsla and Redbone Coonhound mix. I love to play and jump and I have a LOT of energy- I was bred to hunt with horses. I love to cuddle and I am prone to giving kisses and love nibbles. I am very smart and learn very quickly; I do not bark much unless I am very excited about something. Did I mention that I love to run and jump? Because I do. I love to run and jump and play fetch. Also eat. Eating may be my favorite- especially sticks of butter; no need to chew- just open the hole and down the hatch; if you walk behind me, don’t light a match. Squirrels. Squirrels are secretly working - don’t worry I will spend hours keeping an eye on them for you. Did you want to see me run? I am very fast. My favorite place would be a large yard filled with squirrels and sticks of butter. Oh, and also if you don’t keep me busy with running and jumping and playing I may use my energy to get into things. Bella will not be at our adoption event due to her being a little anxious with a lot of new people, but we are more then happy to set up private meet and greets with approved applicants.

First time outside. It was not a good adventure according to the puppies.

Didn't get a video of them playing but settling down for the night works too. We have Destiny set for her spay in 4 weeks. We'll be calling the vet as she has had some bloody discharge again the last 2 days. Positive thoughts for this little family.

Those little legs just start going when you itch the sweet spot.

Destiny is feeling better the bleeding has stopped completely. I will post a video of her puppies later. They've gotten so big.

Loretta and Patsy learning to play ball. I think they are naturals as this was their first time.

Updated video on Destiny and pups. Destiny still has a small amount of blood but she is doing amazing. We are working on her fear of adults she loves kids and her foster mom but she will urinate and poop on the spot in fear when seeing her foster dad. She is already making progress in just a few short days. She is learning leave it with the kitties and down as she wants to jump up. Babies are eating well we are watching weights and giving mom extra calcium and calories as the pups have each lost between 1-2 oz since switching back to nursing. Nothing to worrisome but babies can go down so fast we want to be sure they don't need supplemental feedings. Still working on choosing names from the two pages of names from everyone that were on a different post thank you all for your input, I've narrowed it down to 20...🫣🤣. Keep them in your thoughts, Destiny will be going off her medications in the next few days and we are hoping she will continue to stay sable. As always thank you for your support.
