Our favorite woodland fawn left this world last weekend after 16 too short years on this planet with us.
Mabel Louise was adopted by her mama from the Humane Society of Midland County 14 years ago. She was her mama’s first pet and one of the first dogs we trained in the infancy of A Pleasant Dog. She was a beautiful, velveteen bubble of beauty who loved her people and small circle of dog friends and siblings fiercely. She helped raise Jenn’s son Milo to be a bully loving boy. She also helped raise and foster a young pitty child, Sasha, who loved her like her mother because she became her mother.
Mabel loved to run on the beach, hike the trails, sun herself, hunt sneks, and snuggle in warm places with her family. When her daddy and brother joined her family a little later, they were instant favorites and part of her small circle of beloveds. To be loved by Mabel Louise was an honor anyone would cherish.
Mabel is survived by her mom and dad, brother, Wilson, aunties, uncles, and nanas, and beloved nieces and nephews, who are all tenderly trying to navigate this world without her.
Mary Oliver tells us,
“you must be able
to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.”
But it’s just so hard. Good girl, Bubble. We love you.
